Dog is gone but all is good

It was a bitter sweet weekend. I have loved my dog and it has shown me great times and now she is gone. That is the bitter part. I was worried some gremlins were about to show up in the electrical system (sure I could have rewired it and eliminated the problems but I found myself not riding it because I needed to do some stuff to it), I wondered how much longer the 330 tires will be available and I have dreamed of owning a Ducati since 1994 when I laid my eyes on my first one, a 916. I knew I didn't need one in my 20's because they had too much power and I was invincible. Now I am 41 and have enough sense to not do dumb things on a bike (well for the most part ). Now the sweet part. I found a literally, like new, 2008 Ducati 1098s with 7500 miles on it in Nashville. When that bike came out in 2008 I fell in love again but decided to get a Big Dog. I am glad I did and now I have the bike for this next chapter. With all that said, thank you all so much for what you have taught me and I hope I have helped a couple of people along the way as well. I have met some great folks on here and will stay in touch for sure. Here are a couple of pics of my new ride. Ride safe!!!

I understand the allure of a Ducati. I have a 1098s Tricolore. I love the bike, and I ride it often, but it requires a lot of effort to ride it effectively, especially at speeds below 45mph. It is very difficult to keep it from overheating at low speeds in high ambient temperature.
I'm not sure the Ducati would be the right move if you were seeking greater reliability. They require a lot of maintanence, and they don't like rain.
That is a beautiful bike!

You are correct, it is a handful at anything less than 45. Above that though :D I don't ride a lot and don't have any problem with doing the maintenance required to make it last and the good news is we have a great dealer close if I don't want to do it myself. The 1098s Tricolore is a beautiful bike.

seems like your going ass backwards at 41. LOL

I sold the rice rocket in my my mid 20's and bought a dog that was 5 years ago'ish I can't imagine getting on that now. Hell my back used to hurt on the CBR600 back when I was 22.

Well Eric, I purposely waited to get a Ducati because if I would have had it in my 20's I would have killed myself. I rode sportbikes some back then and realized I had to stop. And honestly, the Duc is more comfortable than the Big Dog. The Ridgeback was fun but beat me up on longer rides. :D

I'll admit by 250 miles on the ridgeback it's not the best feeling. K9 is a much smoother ride, first time I rode a K9 I thought I was on a couch compared to the Ridgeback.

Good luck with the bike though! I hope you get the opportunity to enjoy it and it suits your needs.
