dog is cutting off

Was out riding couple weeks ago and my 04 pitbull just cut off. Pulled over and pushed start button and nothing still had lights just no starter. Dog has original thunderhart ecm and I havent had any problems since I bought it a year ago till now. Original owner had done the ford 9n key swap and it feels like the tumblers have given up. Turn dog on and off a couple times and it starts up. Is this the cheap key switch or an ignition problem. And btw love my dog even if I am having a few problems its just bad ass so im happy with the bike just wanna fix the bugs!!!

Key switch or cooled off crank sensor.
Key had lights on, no start at the handlebar? You flip the key switch and now it starts? I'd expose the key assembly and when it cuts out, mess with the switch. If the bike starts messing with the switch = Switch, right?

My first thought was cam plate sensor, but then you said it will start. Key switch is cheap. Make sure you haven't got a loose connection behind the coil cover or elsewhere. Throw a meter on the switch and you'll know if it's junk.

I must have dozed off. I Expose so? I meant to say, you sense the tumblers in the switch. We know main to headlights are still going thru the switch, correct? HMAN says, main to lights are on so main wire is tight on the switch, the lights are on so those wires off the switch are tight. Lets play the odds [until you touch it] are that all the wires off the switch are tight, your instinct says switch.

How come it starts up again? All this time you stop and start during the day turning that switch, watt is with that Thundercrap box? You have brilliant boy run a noise suppressor kind of clean the signal up in line with the primary coil side, the bike fires right up?

3. Thunderpants took a crap, but the suppository might be that (can't recall) signal cleaner upper between thunderclap and the coil.

Pull the points cover off the side off the engine....stick your nose down by there and see if you have a nasty burnt up electrical smell,if you do.....I would say Cam sensor....If not.....

Go look that ignition switch over and replace it if it feels funky while turning key over....key should turn nice and crisp,have a snug,firm turn to it...If its all sloppy and key is flopping around,replace the switch,there super cheap:2thumbs:..........

If you have lights then the switch is ok. If you have a starter relay I would check that. Most are run by a ground turning them on and your ground may be lose. Good luck.
