Dog Dies While Riding

Good evening,

I have a 2009 Wolf that occasionally dies while driving and usually starts right back up. I replaced the ignition switch about two years ago and had no issues for about a year. Tonight, I hit a pothole, and the bike immediately died. I was able to start it back up and get about three miles, and it died again., It would not restart. I also noticed that the EFI fuel pump would not come on. After about twenty minutes of sitting, I hit run, heard the fuel pump come on, and the bike started. I rode another ten miles home without incident. Would a faulty crank sensor cause the fuel pump not to come on? Any ideas?

Sounds like your ECH is going out. My 07 did the dying occasionally then went to other things over time. At first it started right away then got to be where it took a while. Then the headlight, then the horn. Progressively got worse with weird stuff until it went completely. Good luck.

I'd check your ignition switch and battery terminals first.

I had very similar issues with mine. Of course, in the middle of a multi state trip. Mine was due to its prior owner putting in a HID headlight without swapping out the plastic bulb plug with a ceramic one. It kept shorting out and it would shut the bike down. A short will stop you in your tracks if you have the factory computer crap. I rewired mine. It's better with a fuse box IMO. Grab something for relaxation and start checking all your connections. Do that enough and you will re-wire yours as well. If you were closer, I would lend you a hand. Good luck. Let us know what you find
