Does anyone use a stator plug securement clip?

Hey guys/gals,
I took a ride Saturday and when I got back to the house, dead battery. Damit, a brand new Braille!!!! :bang: I put it back on the charger and it took a full charge. Cranked it up, no voltage charging the battery. I got to looking and the stator plug had come loose. When I had my Fatboy, I had purchased a clip that bolts into the block and holds the stator plug in place. This was common with Harleys. Does anyone here use one of these for your dogs? It's nothing more than just a stiff wire that bends around and keeps a light pressure against the stator plug to prevent it from vibrating out. Just curious.

i have a cover on my crank sensor. so i just looped a wire around one stud then tied in the VR plug.

also heard you can use a longer oil filter which sits against the plug. an old harley trick.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like I'll be fabbing something similar. I would hate to be off somewhere and have that happen again. Too easy to do something about now. I was just curious if I was the only one that ever had that issue with my Dog. Thanks again, Brad

I bought one of those fancy chrome hold downs and it didn't work with a shit. But I have great success with some clear windshield sealant just applied over the seam. Once it dries you can peel it off if needed. It's lasted over 3 years with no problems.

I eliminate the plug and wire it direct. Seal the hole into the case with black rtv. If you gotta have a way to unplug it because you're one of those types that likes to keep his vr under his pillow at night just get some good metal barrel connectors, solder them in and then shrink wrap over them. Cut the shrink wrap and unplug when it's time to take the vr in at night.

Now that's a full blown cure there. I recently got an email from "The DeadOne" and he now builds a LED low/high voltage indicator. That sounds like a handy dandy light. If I remember correctly, it illuminates if voltage drops below 13.? or if it gets above 14.5. I should be getting a price on it today if anyone's interested. It would be great knowing the moment your charging system wasn't working properly. If for nothing else, to give you a little notice to get your ass home while you still had battery power.

stupid question...I was cleaning, polishing... and unplugged the stair plug to the regulator. doors it matter if I plug it upside down to keep it more secure?
