DOD Sticker

Does anyone have a good solution for displaying the Department of Defense registration sticker? I had a bracket made for my HOG, butI don't think it would look right on the K9. I'm also 7K miles away and haven't seen my bike in person yet, or any other K9 for that matter. I would ideally like to be able to take it off when I'm not riding on post. For some reason our server over here doesn't let me view PICs embedded in posts, so if anyone has any PICs please put them in the gallery. Thanks Guys!

Raywood puts them on the back side of the license plate holder. I was out before I got my Dog so, I never needed to do it.

On my shovelhead, I had a buddy of mine cut a piece of stainless that mirrored the front fender mounting bolt pattern. I had it situated on the right side fender bracket between the fender and fork, with the sticker facing in. That way the gate guard could see it and the fork tubes kept it somewhat hidden. I don't have a picture, but could get one if you are interested.

Mine is on the front side of my license plate holder. Haven't had any problems with any of the bases in San Diego or up here in Bremerton. Have to point it out to some gate guards but they soon remember you or your bike!
It inconspicuous and is really hidden. Pics in my gallery.
Later,
Ray

I put mine on a custom plate on the voltage regulator and works like a champ
I can’t believe the Army still has stickers. The USAF did away with them means everyone gets their ID checked when coming through the gates

Yeah, we still have stickers and have to show our IDs. I'll check out everyones pics. Thanks for the replies, behind the TAG sounds like it would work pretty well.

Check the regulation too. They can be pretty specific on where its "Suppose TO Be Mounted"

I can tell you that I use a large refrigerator magnet and it sticks to the oil tank just fine. Before I get ready to go to the base I`ll put it on and after I leave I remove it and put in my took bag. I know its not suppose to be removed, But the DOD sticker just looks like shit on my Pitbull!

I put my dod stickers on a metal plate attached to the top kickstand bolt. I have seen others do the magnet routine, that seems like a better idea. Good luck.

Dicolo,
here's a pic of mine. I have a vertical tag mount and you can see how I've mounted my DOD sticker towards the middle right of the picture. I apologize for not having a better pic but if you need one, I'll put down my beer and pick up the camera....just let me know.

Magnets huh? I hadn't thought of that. I like the idea of being able to remove the sticker easily. I think I'll try tat one first and see how it works out. Thanks again for the feedback.

Uh, careful with the magnet thing - gotta agree with Dakotabos, check the regs. Ft. Richardson (Anchorage, AK) wants'em "permanently" mounted. They often take a tug at my bolt on metal plate...

Well, I haven't done much besides wash, wax and ride! Figured you guys were sick of seeing her!

And as for using magnets, the gate guards will require you to "permanently affix the DOD sticker to the vehicle."

Here is a good place

Well, I peeled off the ugly things (was on my windscreen with the e-pass transponder) and stuck on the backside of my seat ... if they want to see em, no problem. Heck I go through the gate so many times they all know me but if they do need to see it, I can peel off the seat ASAP.

I put mine on the back of my license plate bracket. When the guards at the gate ask about it. I just point to it, no problems ever, I just tell them "hey if you owned this bike where would you put it".

Just remember, the one in Cycle Visions is only 2 inches wide (top 2 btm measurement). The DOD sticker with the base identifyer sticker measures a little OVER 2 inches tall so you'll have some trimming to do.

OR,
if the backside of the tag location doesn't interest you, you could make your own based off the one for sale!!!:D :D :D
