Doc esc vs EHC RIP

Ya'll can go back and forth all Ya'll want to about this and that, but I know for a fact that axel's unit is the only true plug and play out there.....and If you want to do the deal with the harnesses, there is a brand new front and rear harness on ebay right now for $50 a piece. You use them with axel's price to us of $290, and you.have a complete set.up for less.than $400. Now Ya'll try to beat that.
In 2 years when yours has not failed and there is at least 20,000 miles on it I will step back and applaude.
But at the same time in two years if you have had to buy another one because the first one failed welll........

Okay, I get your point but, as you stated about JWooky, don't say something is something when its not.
Your statement earlier about the ESC being the same as the Gen 2 RIP is not true either.

Replacing the headlight harness is a scare tactic, although probably needed for those incapable of maintaining their rides properly, to sell something. I maintain dozens of BDs, as well as my own, and have never had a problem with or a need to replace the headlight harness.
I have had to reposition wiring and replace connectors due to poor maintenance yes but I have yet to have to replace a headlight harness.
And with the addition of LED headlights now, if your not running one then you really should get busy and upgrade, which draw dramatically less amperage than H4s it is truly not needed.
Its much the same as the scare tactics used to get people to pay a bunch of extra money when their having their trans rebuilt.

The Gen 2 kit is still Plug N Play. Okay so you have to unplug a couple more connectors than just two but it doesn't make it not Plug N Play.
You don't have to pull a backbone harness which for many is very daunting.
I can't speak to the cost as I am just a dealer but I can speak to the quality, versatility and ease of installation as I sell and install them.

As far as what Axel is doing. There is no solution there yet.
I wish him the best and should his solution truly be durable and last then I will happily eat crow and kindly ask him to allow me to be a dealer.
However, with all the experiences with the EHC, that so many have had out there already, does everyone really truly believe that someone has suddenly found the solution to all the issues that were killing the EHCs? Okay so Slick has had his in for a couple of weeks and what 400 miles that doesn't mean R&D is over does it? Axel is basically doing, and I mean no disrespect to you Axel, what BD did to their customers. He has even admitted that his other box is used primarily where people put maybe four hundred miles a season on their bikes and he can't gurantee the longevity or durability of his "EHC" yet. I also think the folks willing to step out and buy his product are owed a bit of gratitude as they are being guinea pigs.

In the end I think people here should quit trying to trash others because they think their better or the shit their buying is better.
If you have a true bitch or complaint because you were screwed over and you were denied the help you needed thats one thing but to slip and slide around here like so many have been doing to try and trash others is bullshit, cowardly and assinine.
Were all just a bunch of bikers trying to make our rides dependable so we can spend our time on two wheels and having fun.

This is not a rant and I am no way upset.
So please leave it alone WB.
When I posted that they where the same, (MY BAD) it wasn't until a day or 2 later that I found the picture of the RIP II. and if you look back on the post's, I had mentioned that maybe you would weigh in on this, Jwooky made it sound like you just plug into the 2 EHC connectors and your done, its not. Plug n Play in my mind would be to disconnect the 2 connectors on the EHC and plug 2 connectors back into a new module and your done. But if its the way you have stated: "Okay so you have to unplug a couple more connectors than just two but it doesn't make it not Plug N Play." then by those rules, the ESC would also be Plug n Play. And yes you don't have to replace the backbone harness, but for the same price its a bonus to get that harness.

I have no financial or any other benefit to the ESC or any other vendor on here, I'm just letting other bikers know there are other options out there.

As far as a scare tactic on the headlight, there have been many members over the years that have melted their headlight plug and yes by upgrading to a cooler LED is the way to go, I've received a LED bulb from you almost 2 years ago, the pictures on your website of the difference in the headlight bulbs is in fact of my 3 car garage because I posted those pictures, great bulb.

I understand you don't manufacture the RIP II, but there are still issues with it, like the guy that posted above about his high and low beam not working for 5 weeks and his mechanic could not get any help. I don't know the specifics other than what he posted, so is there still a quality issue? Terminals properly terminated do not fall off, I designed Crimp tooling for Hand Tools, Mini Applicators and high speed Lead making machinery for 42 yrs.

I'm sure this is not Axel's first rodeo with these type of boxes, but in the short amount of time that he's been working on it, he has come a long way and like you, I wish him luck and success with this because if he would have had this unit a year ago I would be running one of them in my bike. Recently when you checked out my EHC you told me they are prone to fail the cold start test, maybe his don't have that component in them. And when someone hooks a battery up wrong, well what can ya say, shit is going to happen.

"If you have a true bitch or complaint because you were screwed over and you were denied the help you needed thats one thing but to slip and slide around here like so many have been doing to try and trash others is bullshit, cowardly and assinine."

I have no clue what that comment above would pertain to?
However, If I have trashed or gave anyone the impression that I'm better than them, I will be the first to appologize, all my intention was to inform other members that there are other options and will continue to do so.

This is not a rant and I am no way upset, I have purchased many things from you in the past and will continue to purchase things in the future.

Are you getting kick backs from DOC?
Your supposed list of problems are only if you don't know what your doing.
I install these kits and don't have these issues.
"Horn connection fell off during installation"
What does that even mean? Their just spade connectors.
More likely it was pulled off.
If I started talking about the calls I have gotten regarding the ESC I could make the same accusations.
But shit happens so I don't try to use that to thwart people.
Get off the podium man.
What most do not realize is the so called extra wiring is not extra.
The harness is designed to wrap around the battery box to keep the stress on the connctor at the module to a minimum and to allow the rear harness to fall into place under the box the way the stock does.
So the fact that the original EHC connectors had "plastic" housings eludes you?
It gets plugged in and zipped tied out of the way who cares what the housing is made of?
WOW, I didn't even see this when I posted above and I'm not even going to address your questions, they are outta line

Okay, fine. The kickback and podium statements were meant to be a joking stab at you but clearly your thin skinned about it so if it takes me apologizing for that so be it "I'm sorry". But I won't apologize for anything else.
As you stated before, opinions are like assholes.
There are definitely issues with the RIP but they are owner/installer issues not product issues.
I can't help that a mechanic cannot figure out how to trouble shoot an issue. I spent aome time trying to help his mechanic to no avail.
I don't care who you are or how good you are there are times when the only way you can trouble shoot something is if you can put your hands on it. You don't have any way of knowing what they have or have not truly done. I've had three different bikes in my shop where the owner started the installation, swore their were issues with the kit and in the end it just took putting it in correctly. At the same time I have had customers with limited knnowledge and limited tools and they put it in in a couple of hurs without a single hitch. It just is what it is.

As none of my statement overall was pointed specifically at you but more towards all on this thread/forum the comment about having a bitch is generalized to those on this forum that do what I stated not towards you specifically.

"But if its the way you have stated: "Okay so you have to unplug a couple more connectors than just two but it doesn't make it not Plug N Play." then by those rules, the ESC would also be Plug n Play."
Again not a true statement. If you have to pull the backbone out of the bike then you can't really say plug and play.
But again its opinion so who really gives a shit other than the guy who would have to pull his gas tank, pull the harness out of the backbone and then pull a new harness back into the backbone before he can even start thinking about connecting anything else and then have to put his tank back on. I think there is definitely a difference.

Again not a rant just talking.

Imagine that:oldconfused:
That's another reason why I went with the ESC. Looks like there are still issues with the RIP II like there was with the RIP I. Your not the only one that has had problems with the RIP II, but I'm suprised after 5 weeks its still not right.
I've got nearly 5000 miles on my new K9 with the RIP and it has worked perfectly even after riding in some HEAVY rainstorms on the trip to Daytona Bike week.

Just had the rip gen 2 installed. Mechanic installed for me. Bought the unit from wildsteedworx. ...everything worked except hi/low beam. Long story short my mechanic made SEVERAL attempts to contact big dog motorcycles with absolutely no luck. This went on for about 5 weeks. I will have to live with no hi/low beams....not a big deal. Jowever....the customer service SUCKS....beware if you buy a rip gen1 or gen2 that if there is aproblem you probably won't get any customer service.
Have to agree with you on that. Took my more than 2 months to get a reply to my email. In the end I was so frustrated that after the RIP got fixed I sold it, bought an ESC and had 0 problems installing it.

Hey I'm with all of you.........no hard feelings and if you can't take wholesome ribbing then please let me know so I don't effend you inadvertently............
There is always more than one way and one opinion. We all wants the same thing in the end. Keep this bikes on the ROAD. :D:D:D
I like doing a lot of research first if I have the time. See what others have or have not done. There is always a easier or better way, but if it worked and your back on the road. That is what is important in the long run.

:oldrant:no hard feelings :oldrant:

Yes I bought one of Axel's EHC. I am willing to be a guinea pig. That is the only way we will know if it works after 20,000 miles. :chopper:

Now for the box seats for the Sumo fight. Make mine by the bar.
