I spaced entering, "It's the law" as an option. Didn't think of it since I don't need one in Idaho.

Kinda funny this popping up today. It's the law here in VA, and I got busted this morning wearing a novelty helmet. The officer let me off with a warning, and commented on how nice the Dog looked.

I used to not wear one when all I had was a full face. Now that I have a brain bucket half shell, I find that I wear it always. It bothered me at first because it felt like it was going to fly off, but I got used to it. Not real sure how much good it will do me in a crash, but it is a compromise for now. Better than nothing. Besides, the old hair is still there and starting to thin....I want to keep it as long as I can. Also, it keeps the sun off of my scalp. I am one of those guys who don't tan....I just turn different shades of cancer.

Looks like Missouri is going to repeal the helmet law (except on interstates). Will be nice to be able to make the choice myself.

i wear the non dot skid lid because of the helmet law in tn. don't wear one in a state that doesn't. most of the crashes i've been at other than low speed it didn't matter if the rider had a helmet or not.

When in rome.......... Otherwise, I have no Choice. Although, the Helmet law Penalty in NJ is now a 25$ Fine and No Points, so I Plan on testing the boundries this year with some shoe Polish and Helmet Stickers on my Mellon, just to see how far I get. Sorry, but the Poll choices should also say, Yes, But not by Choice.

VA is a terrible place to live. The country side is nice but the rules and taxes are rediculous they want me to pay property tax on my truck for the two weeks I had it still registered in VA when I got out of the Navy. I heard the speeding tickets are $1000.00

"Virginia is for lovers" Because you really have to love someone to live there.

I'm in a weird spot concerning helmets... I fervently believe that it should be an individuals choice to wear one or not and I would never support a helmet law. Being in California where it's illegal not to wear one, I always do. With that said however there's a certain small amount of comfort knowing that I "have" to because if there was no law I doubt seriously I ever would, just like my gloves and jackets. I think it's smart to wear one, I just completely resent non-riding cagers who swerve into us being the ones to get laws passed forcing us to buy and wear them.

A friend of mine raised a good point about helmet laws in that if they are making it mandatory that motorcycle riders wear a helmet, then why not require cagers to wear one too? Don't they claim that it's due to the potential of head injuries of motorcycle riders that helmet laws were instigated? Fine, then what about those cagers who end up sustaining head injuries due to a crash, and not wearing a helmet?

I guess the point is, if a law is in affect to require motorcyclists to wear a helmet, then people in cars should also be required to ear one. Seems the only true logical conclusion. I guess the politicians wouldn't want to piss off 98% of the registered vehicle owners... much better to piss off only the 2% that are motorcyclists.

That said though, I would wear a helmet even if it was not the law here (California).
