Do you remember where you where at 10 years ago today Sept 11?

I was at work when we heard news of something terrible happening and most people even though we were hearing it, it didn't seem real at all. Everyone watched the news as we could but it still didn't seem like something like that could happen in this country. I remember the sky with no air traffic which really was strange because we were very close to Nashville Airport which planes were in the air constantly. The only air traffic we saw was a few F-16's leaving out

I don't think it sit in a while that everything that did happened was real.

Yes, I was at work and my buddy was in New York visiting his brother who worked in the Twin Towers but chose to work at another location that day since his brother was in town. My buddy had to rent a car to drive back from NY to New Orleans.

At work running a line problem out, UPS guy stopped and told me a Jet just hit the Trade Center (1st one) I told him he was full of shit. I hooked up my test TV set and saw the 2nd one hit in disbelief.

Not trying to hi jack your thread but the wife and I went on a freedom ride with another mile of bikes and out of all the bikes, one stood out more than all the others. At work on a conference call when the first plane hit and heard someone say that a plane had hit one of the towers but no details. I was working in an office about 1 mile north of Dulles airport, directly in the landing approach. BY 10 AM we were told to go home and the main road in front of the office looked like rush hour. It was weird standing in the parking lot and not hearing/seeing any commercial jets.

Working on a construction job in a area near the mountains here with another co-worker. We didn't find out until about 12 o'clock when we went to lunch and cut the radio on.

I also was at work when a friend told me what had happened. I told him it could not be. Later I found out that my son's traveling soccer coach was at a meeting on the 92nd floor when the plane hit. They never found his body. My son is now a senior in college but this anniversary almost makes it feel like yesterday.

Here's one for you guys... I was just out of the shower, getting ready to pick up my mom and bring her to Logan Airport. We were flying out to attend my brother's wedding- in San Francisco! I'm not kidding. If we had booked an earlier flight we could have been on one of those planes, they hijacked the long distance non stops out of Logan because they knew those planes would be carrying more fuel.

When I saw the second one hit, I called mom and my brother and welp, there was no use trying to go further. Everything was grounded 'till "further notice".

Though I was supposed to be on vacation for my brothers wedding, I got called shortly after that to go in to work. We had 25 customers in those towers. They needed help restarting their businesses at disaster recovery sites in New Jersey.

That night is when I learned we likely lost 6 colleagues that I had worked with on a regular basis. Most of them had invited me to their homes to meet and have dinner with them and their families when occasionally I was in New York to help them a few times a year. They were never found- but in a few cases some personal items were recovered later on.

This one brothers, marking ten years, was a tough day I'll admit.

At first we got pissed because we thought he was pulling a publicity stunt.
Then we were just in shock.

I was trucking that day. I even remember the spot on the road where I was at. One of my cousins called me to tell me what happened. I didn't believe him at first.

Was @ work. My whole office stayed glued to the TV in conference room all day. We stared at it in disbelief. I even remember we sent out for Jasons Deli for everyone. Things like that have a profound effect on you. God Bless all the people who lost loved ones. :flag::flag::flag::flag:

I was in New Zealand, in the locker room putting my uniform on and getting ready to start early shift.... we, at first, could not believe what we were hearing on the news!!!

Was working in the IDS tower (tallest building in Minneapolis), listening to the local morning radio show. Stayed glued to the broadcast for the next hour until we all decided to clear out of the building, not knowing if all skyscrapers in major cities were being targeted or not.

I was a freshman in high school and I remember our teacher coming into the classroom crying and putting the tv on so we could watch the news reports

I was at home (on vacation) and showering when my wife told me what was happening. I turned on the news as the second plane hit. I worked out of our Rochester NY office, but we had offices on the 85th floor of Tower 2 and lost 5 colleagues and a contractor - truly tragic.

I left Shreveport about 5am going South of Jaskson Mississippi with our Explosive rig to perferate a well and use a casing cutter explosive devise at 1400'. On the way over I listened to a book on tape. When I arrived the second tower had just been hit. The trailer had over 125lb of high explosives and by law I have high explosive 1.1S placker cards on 4 sides of the vehicle. I have been liscenced since 1996 to work with High Explosives and up until 9/11 I have never pulled over and had my liscence and manifest checked before or since. On that day, from Jackson Mississippi to Shreveport Louisiana which is a 3 hr drive. I was pulled over 12 times by State troopers in Mississippi and Louisiana along with different Sherrifs dept. It took about 45 minutes per stop to check Lisc, do a shape charge count, plus a detinator count. I had 1 State trooper tell me He was seizing all of my explosives. I told him fine #1 get the State explosive team up here from Baton Rouge with there portable day boxes, plus call the ATF in Shreveport and have Agent Bernnie Lafater ( Bernnie does all my 4 month on site inspections) before I release anything to you. He said he could throw my ass in jail and transport all my stuff in the trunk of his car. I almost shit!!!!!! He called Bernnie and 5 minutes later I was back on I-20. My wife at that time was having a fit because George Bush had just landed at Barksdale AFB, which is 3 miles from our farm and she was sure the terrorist would blow it up next. The interesting thing is why did America need to know where Bush was, NO one needed to know he was at Barksdale??? It is the largest Airforce base in the USA, and Yes there are lots of NUKES here!!! Back when SAC was in place it was the second largest SAC base the Airforce had.

In my office at the Mississippi Gaming Commission in Vicksburg, Ms where I worked as a Special Agent. The first thing I noticed was the internet was not working. I came out of my office to see if everyone else had service when someone told me what had happened. Someone brought in a TV and we watched everything all morning.
