Didn't they fix the EHC failures on the 2007 bikes?

Apparently 98.5% of them are... just not the one that you're dealing with.

A while back Night Train made the comment that after 2006 the EHC's had a failure rate of 1.5%. I know there are those that disagree with this number but why would he lie? After all, he said that AFTER he was let go.
You are very correct Dennis, NightTrain wouldn't lie to anyone. And I'd say that he's probably very correct in his estimated percentages of good EHC's! :2thumbs:
But you have to keep in mind that these were EHC's that were returned due to someones "suspicions" of failure in the EHC unit also.
And from what I've experienced, after his time at BDM the actual failure rates did in fact improve on the units that they made changes in. :2thumbs:

Yea... he's right...

1.5% manufactures defect rate
30% defect rate due to vibration
30% defect rate due to voltage spike damage
30% defect rate due to water damage
But Jake makes a very good point here. :2thumbs:
There are way too many variables that go into the proper and reliable operation of the BDM electrical system utilizing the EHC units.
Other Examples: Low or bad batteries, moisture infiltration into connectors, oxidation or corrosion into connectors, intermittent conductivity, failed conductor conductivity and the list goes on! :loony:

That's also why they are so very hard for most to properly diagnose the "actual" cause of the failures too. It could be, being caused by most anywhere within the actual circuit pathway. And many don't have any idea on where to even start looking for the fault. That why I "always" suggest using the K.I.S.S (Keep it simple stupid) method.

You also need to keep in mind that many of "US" here have taken "preventative" measures to help insure the proper & reliable operations of the EHC systems, NOT THE FACTORY! And it's "NOT" even a factory installation prerequisite, even today as we speak. And that's NOT a good thing! :nono:

I have talked to BDM riders we meet on the road and tell them about this site and all it has to offer, and most say they have had no issues with their bike, do not have time for forums and just want to ride in their spare time.
So the poll only shows those who are on this forum, yet there are more than 25,000 more bikes on the road that potentially have had few problems. Jake is right, the guys not having issues are not searching the web and are riding, so the poll numbers are skewed in the overall scheme of things.
The poll numbers are only an accurate statictical number of those participating in this poll, to which most forum members have not taken part in this poll.

Comments posted are Opinions, not an officail statement of fact.

In effect, the poll results are not an accurate cunclusion and are open to interpretation by the reader.
Agreed!.....

But one "must" keep in mind that:
1)"MOST" of the dog owners don't ride these bikes anywhere near as much as others! So in that being said, "less mileage, less chance of failures"!
2) Also there is the issue that there are many service bulletins that are performed at the dealers during service intervals, that are mostly unbeknownst to many of the actual owners.
3) Until the owner actually see the service history records on that bike, they really have know way of knowing what has and has not been performed to the bike.

So in many cases, the poll is "not" really a good way to judge anything "accurately", as far as I'm concerned!

Plus, I'd rather deal with actual facts, rather than anyone's "interpretation" of possibilities either way! :2thumbs:

dead

TRUE COLORS COLLISION
I have personally sat in the shop watching some BDM get waranty repairs done ,and honestly i know for a fact all procedures were not done while testing for the failure of certain electronic parts.....dealerships are throwing parts on these bikes and laying false blame for some of the things that are actually wrong with the bikes...at the same time as the economy had slowed down they are getting paid........so i will assume if i seen it here in MD it has happened throughout the USA......my EHC went like FIBERS did and only 1 pin failed, matter of fact determined which pin it was and replaced it with paper clip and rode 1 and a half months till the new EHC came in
