Whats your guys take on these bikes. Precision Cycle Works, 96 S&S, etc.

Have someone trying to get rid of one for DIRT CHEAP and times are tough...so I've thought of perhaps selling the dog and trading down so I can make some money. Also thought about getting the Det Chop and then trying to sell it and doing all of the upgrades to the Dog that I've wanted to do :)

Gonna go take a look at the bike on Saturday, but other than seeing some pics I haven't really heard much about these guys PCW...good or bad?

Any info guys?

Not the best, they only use the cheaper components. If you put 2 exact bikes together you'll see different components on each one. Do a NADA and blue book search and value on them. Also call your insurance company and see what they say. Although these things won't matter to you since your selling it they will matter for any informed consumer you come across.

AL,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah KBB value on it was 15.5k. I think I can get it for about 8g's. It has less than 1k miles on it. Someone owed this guy some money and he just wants what he's owed. I've been looking online and I can tell where they cut corners to save a few bucks, all hoses are rubber - not steal braided. I emailed the company PCW and asked if they had any recalls or issues with 05 models that I should know about - not that I was complaining about their product, but are the doing different and better 3 years down the road. I got email this morning and they said they use stronger starters now and that was the only issue they've come across. Seemed like a pretty honest answer.

Not sure if I want a "cheaper" quality bike when my dog is great to me - but 8g's is a steal for the bike. Even if it just becomes a project to play with.

Was hoping to find out some more about these bikes - but there is barely anything posted anywhere???

That's because originally "Detroit Chopper" was just a particular model kit bike that seemed to sell real well then PCW started to build them as a regular model. Another company that did the same thing was called the "agressor" which was nothing more than a small company that bought a large amount of kit bikes and assembled them as a mfg. bike. All this is legal.
