after my roadstar motor shit on me, i started searching for a custom bike. i narrowed it down to bd and ai since my credit union and my insurance wouldnt work with a one off custom...which was to bad because i found a bad ass dead end chopper in dallas. coulda used there finance and ins but cost more.
what i found was alot of people asking way more than what book value was...nada...cuz thats what the banks use. every single ai was several thousand over book. found an o6 ridgeback. seemed to good to be true...and it was. it was 3500 under book...but when i went to go look at it, it was junk. spedo/tach/horn were out. turn sigs removed due to not working. headlight had a manual switch wired. side mount brake light was busted off. rode like crap. spiten sputtering, backfiring... fwd controls falling off. damn near needed to hands to pull the clutch. might have been an ok deal after fixing everthing but just not what i was looking for.

what i found was an 04 ridgeback with about 10k miles. has 124ci motor, new computer, intake, pipes, sissy bar, seat, pad...the usualy stuff. great condition. smooth ride. and i paid 12k for it. book was right at 11900.

good deal? anyone know what these pipes are?

Well, on the one you bought it's a good deal...but a 124 CI motor? Is that stock? My K9 has a 117CI.

As far as the low mileage one, that's crazy. These bikes do have EHC (computer) problems from time to time. It sounds like the first guy tried to remedy the problem by getting rid of anything computer related....but it sounds like a hell of a hack job. With the controls and side mount broken, it was probably laid down at one time or another. I wouldn't have bought that piece of shit either...b/c of it someone will spite BDM, when it's the previous owners fault. As far as the clutch....I feel your pain there, lol. I pray to not get stuck in traffic with mine, and I've got strong hands/fore arms from being in the remodeling business and using my hands all day.

Don't know what kind of pipes those are, but I like them.

no its not stock!! bd never put one in!!! the previous owner might have had lots of problems w/ the 117 and put that in/ or they just wanted more power!!!

Most 04's still came with the 107. But there were a few that got the 117. I think alhall has the 117 in his 04.

something makes me think that someone took the 124" medallion off of and AIH and stuck it on the BD motor. you can see the medallion on the nose cone in the picture and it looks just like the ones that AIH used for their motors. I may be wrong but BD has never used a 124" motor in any production bikes.

story on the motor was the original owner had problems with his stock motor. bd replaced it and he paid to upgrade.

previous owner just told me they were EVO pipes.

well the o4 has a smooth clutch...so its not 'supposed' to be that way as the other bike owner told me.

that may be the case. wouldnt put it past anyone these days. do the bd motors, the 117 and 107 have the big ass holes in the top of the heads? was told it was some compression release thing. was told it was only on the 124 motor

nevermind...looked at some pics. looks just like all the rest. oh well. thanks for the info. now i need a new cover.

Call S&S with the number off the case. They will tell ya what you got. I believe all have the hole in the head but not all have compression releases. 117's do and early 107's don't.

the 2032 is the cc of the 124...or am i wrong on that too? on the roadstar forums i was humpty1602...just trying to be consistant.

Yeah, you're right. It's 2032. Technically it's 2031.9959359999 etc etc, but that's rather annoying, lol. So you thinking you need to be "humpty1917"?
