Date Code

I recently purchased a tire from Arlen Ness Ebay store. Prior to purchase I requested what the date code was on the tires. They pulled one of the shelf and stated it was 1909. My tire size is an odd size and hard to find so I was ok thinking that the tire was 3 years old. Well I receive my tire yesterday and the date code on this particular tire was 1406. So now I have a tire that has been sitting for over 6 years on the shelf.

Should I be worried about using this tire? I'm going to take it up to my mechanic for his advice but wanted to get some BDB opinions. I will also be contacting Ness as well.

thanks

Theres no law in the USA that states a seller can not sell a 6 year old tire. But all maufacturers recommend a 4-6 year shelf life. Other countries such as Europe have laws... 6 years max

I would send it back simply because they lied to you about the date, then contest the charge with the CC Co. Just my .02

I would not use a tire that old on any vehicle.
