damn starter

well i noticed it happened the other night leaving a bar but today after riding home bike would not start to pull in garage. the motor turns over maybe 2 or 3 times then lound grind like the starter gear slips off. each time i hit starter same thing. after 4 trys the battery is to dead to try more so its on the charger guess i need to pull primary cover off and look at teeth

well today the starter didnt want to work at all pulled it off and the motor it self is black and burnt on the inside. does anyone know what size the starter is stock on a 02 pittbull? will a 1.75KW work bettter. isnt the starter on the pittbull the same is like an evo?

Don't remember what size they used in 02 but it's probably a Spyke. Some on here have had them rebuilt. Yes, it's a standard Harley style starter but it's probably rated at a higher Kw power.

Also, make sure you have a strong battery in your bike.

batterys good. the starter is all black and chared inside i think it had a short in it some where i have had TONS of problems with it. i picked up a super torque spyke today to stick in it

picked up a 1.4KW spyke super torque. man that thing turns the motor over like its nothing. i was worried when i got it. guy at dealer said it was 2.4KW but thats make power at some crazy CCA. guess this whole time it has been the starter weak and not battery or ........
