Damn clutch??

So I’ve been reading and reading the threads until I finally am giving up. I’m just going to throw in another clutch issue/question.

1st gear feels good
2nd gear feels good
3rd gear when on throttle and just cruise, it feels like the bike is cutting off (if that makes since) but I know it is the trans or clutch causing it. Its bad enough to skip the gear entirely to keep riding on.
4th gear is a definite slipping of the clutch
5th gear is same as 3rd but a little less frequent as 3rd gear but still enough to make you skip the gear to go into 6th
6th gear does the same as 3rd & 5th but not as frequently as 5th until trying to accelerate.

Also, the damn shift level won’t go back into position on its own. Every up/down shift I have to return it to proper position.

I hope this helps with explanation of my issue. Tried explaining to local shop and fumbled It is hopefully going into the shop this week to find out my issue and fix it but I’m afraid they aren’t as experienced with BD. So I am here once again picking the brains of all BD experts in here. Y’all have been extremely helpful with anything I’ve needed to ask or I could find in a thread already.

Safe riding

Also want to add that noticed the rear tire is a little out of alignment. The edge of the tire is rubbing the belt slightly now. Before it was around maybe 1/4” of space between them. I may have multiple issues I’m afraid.

If the shifter is not going back into place the first thing to check is the HEIM joints and make sure that can move freely.
First the shift lever problem first if you can.
Check the clutch adjustment after that is done.
How much slack is in your cable when you pull the clutch (ie before you hit resistence)--measured at the gap at control lever on handlebars.

Break the issues down individually rather than trying to solv everything at once.

Shift level feels free, just sticks in place once it has shifted gears.

The slack in the clutch is very little. I had read it needs to be about 1/4” if my memory is correct. I had started to get slack before, which I came here to look through forums and the service manual to adjust it properly. Now did I do it correctly? I hope so hahaha

edit
Just checked manual, says 1/16” of play. May have slightly more than that but definitely not much.

Levre may feel fine but still check the heim joints closely - I have had them stick on mulitple bikes. Each time the shifter did not return when my heim joint were not COMPLETELY smooth and free. You might want to remove on end of the shift rod and check for smooth motion in the heim joints.
Double checking this is well worth while as it is one of the least expensive and easiest fixes for the error of shift level not returning. Otherwise you are looking at an issue in the transmission, anything from a spring to something bigger ($$)

Double check that gap if you are not 100% certain, it's critical.

And the clutch adjustment says 1/4 turn on the screw -- most of us have less than that more like 1/8 turn -- 1/16 gap at handlebar controls.

Verify the easy stuff befre going to the big stuff, cause next step is pulling and checking the clutch pak.

Have I done the suggestions yall pointed out to me, I’m still scratching my head hahaha. Local shop has it now. I will let yall know what they find and where we go with it after that. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Here is an update to anyone that is curious, not to thrilled about it. Going to post the pictures I took. A new transmission is being ordered.
