If anyone is interested there is a damaged orange 2007 K9 for sale on crashtoys.com located in Hasting Mn. It has 1683 miles on it and the high bid on it so far is $3700. The auction ends Oct. 06/09 at noon. Looks like the bike was dumped and someone took some parts off it.

I am going to try and buy this bike. Any suggestions as far as getting title and papers. Will it come with a bike that is basically wrecked? How much of a pain in the ass will it be if they dont have them? IS there any chance that the bike might be stolen?

Thanks

It is a salvage title, so depends on your state laws, some states do not allow salvage vehicles back on the road even after they are fixed, some do after an inspection. Some times you can have a friend have it inspected in another state and titled, then transfer it to the other state.

Look into it before jumping in.

I bet it hits close to $8-$10,000

A good motor is worth $5000 at least.

hard to be for sure but that really doesnt look all that bad. Powder coat the frame a new color and go in any direction!

It will definitely have a salvage title. In Manitoba (Canada) you require a body integrity and a bike safety to get it registered. I know Ontario, the next province over does not allow us to import with salvage titles. Like bdmridgeback says, you better check with your state laws to licence it, unless you just want it for parts.

So I am working on getting the info from the BMV. I think this will be a good winter project for me. I guess I have two other questions. 1. If the frame is cracked can I find our buy aonther frame from BD? Does anyone have idea on what a new frame would cost. If I did get a new frame would I still have to have a salvage title?

I appreciate your feedback?

Thanks

If you need a new frame I think you could get one from Daytec, I believe they make the frames for the K9, Some one sujested (think it was Moe) cutting the neck off and sending it to Daytec so they could just restamp the same #'s in it. I would guess at least 8 bones for a new frame.

Good luck.:2thumbs:

After looking at what you found I am a little concerned this is just a big scam. Seems fishy. I appreciate the heads up. I sent them an email, but I wonder if it isnt like 6 different websites showing different prices. I am sure they wont respond to me but we will see. Thanks

Just remember, Crashtoys.com requires a $200 non-refundable sign up fee and a $400 buyers fee on top of the auction price and tax. Also, the different sites each say the bike is in a different location.

I've bought from these guys before, a bike and atv... they are legit and never had a problem with the transaction. But I've never seen things on two seperate sites before... Odd to say the least.

I agree with you. This is odd, how in the hell can you put the same bike in at least 2 different auctions at the same time and not wind up screwing someone? It seems everyone that registers loses $200 and may actually have no chance of winning that thing. Just trying to inform our brothers.

Just a lil FYI I live in Hastings MN and I seen this bike. I was up at the local BD dealer talking to the mechanic the other day and it was in the shop. I looked it over and looks like a lil cosmetic damage but thats about it. I would bet the frame is good to go. I dont know if this helps but thought i would throw my 2 cents in.
