Well, finally got my Speedo fixed.
Seems the button to change modes, reset trip etc died on my way to Dave's in Sept.
Called them the other day -- $65 plus shipping for them to even look at it. So I'm think over $85 to ship there and back plus whatever they'd charge for the stupid parts, which the guy couldn't even find listed as a part number since I knew what was bad.
Or, I could replace the switch myself.
Put a little tactile momentary switch in instead of the flimsy membrane switch.
Works better than it ever did. Had to mod some plastic inside and solder the 2 wires to the board -- no biggie.
Next -- figure out why my low gas light isn't working and get the gas gauge I am building working and installed.. Concept device will be built this week -- to test and calibrate. Hoping to keep the cost really low.
After that, might migrate to full digital dash and add some sensors (oil temp, voltage, amps etc)
Who remembers when cars had ammeters? Don't really NEED one on the bike but be nice for that sudden heads up when/if the VR/stator takes a crap (right HMAN).
