Dakota Digital Opinions

My stock speedo has gone bad, third one. Going to replace it...
So, from you that have Dakota digital speedo's, which do you prefer, blue or red? I like the look of the blue but thought the red might be easier to see/read in the daylight.

Opinions, thoughts, observations?

They're great. No problem with mine ever. I have the Red. Just bought the Red because it matched the Red on the scoot. They both look great.

I also have the red and it's great! Both are bright when reading your speed so no worries. Just decide which you would think would best fit the color of your scoot...:2thumbs:

I know your post is geared toward the Dakota Digital owners, so don't hammer this too bad, but have you considered the dual Digital/Analog mulitfunction speedo/tach from BDMPP? I of course don't have much to compare it to, but it's pretty nice. Not sure why, but it's cool to see the tach in digital format as speeds are just relative. Has a few other cool features too. No clue what the wait time is on them though if ordered.

Just a suggestion.

I installed a blue one this winter. Bright enough during the daytime. Nice to finally see an accurate speed!

Yep, thought about it alot... Really like it but not sure on it's reliability and the fact that it has an analog needle... wondering aboutnthe high rpm vibration. What other functions does it have?

I have a blue one and can see it during the day no problem. My bike is black with blue inferno flames so that's why I went with blue.

Hey Eric I got one and love it. I went RED but for the same reason as others did to match my bikes colors. The only time I have had difficulty seeing it was when the sun was like at high noon shining on it with me wearing polarized shades. Other than that it is always easy to read.

I love mine although I did have one of the LEDs on the last number position of the odometer when out and now a 6 and an 8 look the same.

This is from another post I made earlier today. You probably need to makeup your mind soon because the last post I saw Don said he only had one blue ones left this morning. He said 2 more blue and 3 Red due to arrive a couple weeks.

Try this link http://valuetec.startlogic.com//page12.html or go to our home page and click on the vendor. I wasn't going to put mine in until later this year but went out to the garage and said "What the heck, why not". I would allow 30 to 60 minutes so you can clean spots not cleaned before, admire your work and set up the Odometer to reflect your miles. I went to fill up with gas and this speedometer is awesome. I made no adjustments other than odometer and service miles which I set at 2500 miles. The speed was right on as far as I could tell knowing how fast I travel in each gear at 2000, 2500, and 3000 rpm when I checked using GPS and the owners manual has the speed at each of these RPMs for each gear. I am not even going to check it against gps. I am very confident that it is very close.

If you do all the water proofing that Raywood does, it is going to take longer. Instead of gluing the spot where the wires go into the assembly, I used Loctite Insulating & Sealing Wrap see link http://www.henkelna.com/industrial/mro-new-products-8036.htm for video. I use this on many things with great success. And, if I don't like the color, I just go over it with the color electrical tape I want.
