Ok, So I know some of you think these things are junky and some lovem. I had mine put on and it was supposed to be mounted vertical but was not. In 5th gear it starts missing out at about 50 mph and 6th gear at about 65mph. Is it getting to much air, not enough, or does it need to be rejetted. Thank you for any info!

Sounds like rejet is in order.

I had to have mine mounted vertical, had issues with it horizontal.

Mine is Vertical also, but I encountered the same issues in the beginning. I beleive the S&S manual explains to remove the "bowl vent screw," when running a performance intake. I did so with mine, and it never cuts out anymore.....good luck.

Mine is horizonal and no problems.....rejet will fix it. I'm running 32-76

I was helping him today with it and we did take the vent plug out and changed the main from a 76 to a 78 and it has a 31 interm. in it. Its still missing. I reajusted it evertime we made a change on it. The only thing we did not do is change interm, and move the spike to vertical. Do you have to buy a nother bracket to change it from horizonal to vertical.

My bike was doing that talked to bob at xxx sand increase the air bleed that helped but still missed at higher rpm.went down from 33 intermediate to 31 one and bike is running good now maybe that will help you.??just getting to much gas???

Run a 31-76 jet set up re-tune your carb!!

the problem (depending with what model you have) is the air is going over the spike so fast and not going in, that it creates a reverse vaccume and pulls air out!
the twisted is the worst that I have heard of!! If you get the dual set up it will go away

I just recieved one from s&s and I could tell the diff in hp and how smooth the motor was running at hwy speeds!!!!

Have horizontal spiral..no issues here.. I have a big air psi carb..
dealer set up all fine no issues at all

You can mount them at a 45 degree angle as well as vertical, and horizontal.

Mine is 45 degrees and no problems for 3 years and 10k miles.
