Is there enough meat around this coil cover boss to drill/tap to a 7/16? Mine is stripped.
@john sachs ?

@john sachs ?

I thought about that Shannon, but I am trying to do this on the bike, and it’s super tight on a mastiff. I will have to drill and tap either way, and if it will take a 7/16” it would save me from dealing with the insert too. Good solution though.Heli coil it
Thanks John, was wanting confirmation there is enough meat there to go up to a 7\16.I posted an answer to your problem the other day. I can't find it though. I would get a STUD 7/16" USS by 3/8" SAE or USS. Tap the hole in the head 7/16" USS, Loctite stud in and use a 3/8" nut on the other end.

IMO, a stud set up is better suited. Think about exhaust studs. Bolts usually won't stay in as an example. I would wager, your thread damage came from the bolt getting loose. If you use the size I mentioned, then you won't have to drill your motor mount hole either. Put a chrome cap on that one and the other 1 with a bolt, or put a 3/8" X 3/8" stud in that one also.Thanks John, was wanting confirmation there is enough meat there to go up to a 7\16.
Curious why you would do a stud over a bolt?
Since this is very visible a nut might not look so good.
