custom gas caps

Hey gang, first off great community here! very helpful in the past.. But man i cant believe NONE offers aftermarket custom gascaps that fit the BD paintsaver...? 08 K9 owner here. Or maybe a paintsaver threaded adapter so other caps fit? Thanks to all the fellow bikers out there.

Try SpeedDealerCustoms.com. They might be able to work with you on a design. They make some nice grips and pegs for the Dogs so I'm thinking if they get a big enough interest they might just make some up for us. They have some wicked gas caps already. I'm thinking my paint savers may just have to go.....?

I had a hard time with my paint saver. It would get stuck in the summer and would be a bitch to unscrew. I also wanted the look of a custom cap. I finally just removed it and purchased a generic custom cap and it was doing just fine. The only thing is that I had to get one of those rubber and chrome paint rings to go where the insert of the paint save was. It works just fine, maybe better.

my paint saver messed up so i pulled it and bought a recessed cap it looks very sleek on the tank.

How did you get the original paint saver ring out?

I tried making a tool like a previous poster stated and that didn't work. I checked on the price of a tool and between the cost of the tool and shipping and I just couldn't justify it. So what I did was I got me and my wife with two rubber mallets and two punches that were taped two prevent from slipping and messing up the paint, and we tapped on it simultaneously in a counter-clockwise manner until it broke loose. Afterwards it twisted out pretty easily.

I took my time and was very patient.
