Yesterday while installing Cruise-Mate for KFD I ran into a problem I haven't had before.

While re-assembling switch housing the wire with the shrink wrap around it had a tendency to find it's way out of rear half of housing and get trapped between housing and the handlebar. This will cause two problems is not corrected; 1. wires will get pinched and if left like that will eventually break due to vibration. 2. switch housing halfs will not mate correctly.

When re-assembled, there should be no gap between the front and rear half of the housings. If there is, take apart and ensure wires are tucked in before re-assembling.

The way I overcame this is somewhat complicated to put into words, however, will develop a simple to follow procedure and include pics in future installation instructions. Anyone having this problem should call me for procedure to avoid. 877.NICE RACK (642.3722)

First off, I have to thank Tom for the offer to install the Cruise Mate product in my dog. Once installed, the product works fantastic! Made the 60 mile ride home much more comfortable. Just get to the speed you want, engage the Cruise Mate and relax and enjoy the ride. Best add-on I have seen yet.

The installation was a bit finicky due to the way Big Dog has there electronics situated. They could have done a much better job with this aspect of the design, in my opinion. Tom however, worked through it and overall the installation was fairly painless. Heed his advice and be cautious with the plug connector and wires in the housing.

All and all, well worth it. Tom is a fantastic guy and the product is as advertised.
