Thank you Bigdogbiker.com for your support of Cruise-Mate. By now most members that ordered under the group buy should have received and (hopefully) installed Cruise-Mate on your Big Dogs.

I'm very interested in any feedback you may have, positive or negative, as to quality, installation, performance and looks of this product.

Effective this coming Friday, June 6, 2007 I'm going to consider the 25% off group buy complete and going forward will offer the product for $69.95 to forum members, which amounts to about 18% discount.

Future group buys with a deeper discount will certainly be considered.

Enjoy your Cruise-Mate and ride safe.

This thing is SWEET! I had a small install issue I talked to Tom about regarding the inner clamp bar being too close to the control while tightened during install causing the drill/tap to run into it. I think he has since cleared up the issue, other than that it is super slick to use, flips on/off really easily and is intuitive to adjust even while riding. For the money it is BY FAR the best mod I've done to the bike, second would be the HID headlight and third would be the air ride. Ride safe guys!

I'd recommend yes. The Wife was immediately envious, so she has one on her Nightrain too. She used it for the first time this weekend on a Hooter's run and is completly sold on it.

I agree with Pro - one of the best, simplest things I've done on the Dog. Besides, drilling and tapping is always fun! :smash:

i'm w/ pro on the backing plate. it should have spacers. the drill was ok but the tap bottomed out way too early. no big deal, just had to finish tapping w/out the jig. A picture of installing the jig would take the guess work for where the spacers go exactly would help too!
With that said-I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT- worth every penny! Recommend it to everyone

Hey guys, thanks for the great review on Cruise-Mate. Although it won't help anyone that's already installed the product, I have hooked up with one of the local forum members and am going to install a CM on his bike (free:eek: ) this week and will take pics for future installation instructions.

As for the tie bar being too close to tap all the way through, I'm experimenting with a new drill jig that only uses one bolt (same as Harley and Metrics) which will eliminate the problem.

I've been told many times that I must be a smart fucker to come up with Cruise-Mate, my response to them is "Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and again" :loony:

great product, thanks again Tom. This makes long rides easier on the hands as they start to go numb or cold.

Hey Tom. Is the above problem and installation issue, or a performance issue? The reason I'm asking, is if its a performance issue, I may wait to purchase one until you get the problem fixed. If its just an installation issue, I'm not that worried about it. I'm probably going to pay someone to put it on anyway. Hope I'm making sense.

Tapping hole for Cruise-Mate

The issue discussed here as to the tap hitting the tie bar during installation, before the hole is completely tapped is not really an issue. Two ways to overcome this.

1. Drill the hole as per instructions.
2. Use the tap to thread newly drilled with the drill jig in place until tap hits the tie bar.
3. Remove the jig from the housing and finish tapping the hole without the jig, the threads will already be started straight and there won't be a problem.

Second solution,
1. Drill the hole as per instructions.
2. Use the taper tap (provided) with drill jig in place to start the threads in the newly drilled hole until the tap hits the tie bar.
3. Remove the taper tap and use a bottoming tap to finish the threaded hole with drill jig in place.

Any questions at all, please call me anytime @ 877. NICE RACK (642.3722)

Thanks to some of the Forum Members there are some pretty good pics here on the forum (Technical / How To's) of the installation procedures.

Very shortly I'll post pics on my website Motorcycle throttle lock cruise control with complete instructions and pics of the installation procedure.
