Last August I rode my 06 K9 from Florida to Sturgis for Bike week. I blew out the bearings in the rear axle but was able to get it fixed at the Big Dog setup in Sturgis. That is another story for another time. Anyways from Sturgis I rode to Tahuya, WA. While I was in Sturgis I met the President of Big Dog, Nick Messing (sp?). When I told him my plans he told me that he had not heard of anyone riding across country on a Big Dog before. Please tell me that I am not the only one. Please tell me there are like minded individuals :loony: on this site that have taken their dogs for a long ride across this awesome country of ours.

Tahuya, huh? That's about 10 miles from Raywood, and even closer to HDLarry's cabin on the canal. I live in Kirkland, and KnotSo is down near Tacoma.

Are you still in WA??

No, I live Florida. That was my first cross country trip. I had planned it out the whole time I was in Iraq. It was a blast.

Welcome to the site!! That was quite a trip. Lots of folks on here have done some long runs. Wish you would have contacted us as we would have gotten together with you for a ride here.

Also, Nick Messer was relieved of his position a few months ago. You sure it was Nick you saw in Sturgis. I personally met him in Daytona this year and he was well aware of my cross country trip. Rumor is he will be back though!

Glad the boys (Jason and Brad) took care of you in Sturgis. They are great guys and at most of the major rallies fixing everyones bike for free. Can't get any better than that!

Welcome again,
Ray

Added: Oh, just read you made this trip last year!!!

Yah, I wish I would have found this site sooner. I did that trip by myself. It would have been a whole lot more fun if I had some good buddies with me.

All my long trips have been alone also. Back in 05 I rode from San Diego to Little Sturgis, KY and back. Hotter than hell but had a blast.

Around here in the NW I ride mostly with Knotso to most of the Rallies. Always nice to have a buddy along.

All of us NW guys though get together regularly. We have lots of video's posted in the Gallery of our rides.

When is your next big ride???

Well, me and some buddies are going to ride the Tail of the Dragon during Labor Day Weekend. I have also looked at the possibility of doing the IBA's 50CC before the end of the year.

Does the IBA have a time requirement on that run? That's quite a ride!

The Tail of the Dragon is a good ride. I live in upper SC so its not too far and my grandmother's house is right up in the mountains on the North Carolina/Tennessee line. I may try to make it up there myslef Labor Day weekend. It'll be crowded with bikes for sure.
