Sorry folks if this has already been discussed and addressed, but I did a search and found nothing.......... so here we go.
One of my two throttle cables and my clutch cable covers are starting to turn milky colored and feel sticky and gummy to the touch. I am not sure what this is from. The bike sits in the garage when I am not riding it, but I do ride it to work quite often, and it sits outside while I am there. It is usually sunny on days I ride.
It seems to just be on the upward facing surfaces. It is not on the under side, and does not seem to be on the sections of the cables that run vertically. Mostly up near the hand controls area. I wonder if this is from the sun light, UV's maybe.
Has anyone else experienced this? I hate to use a solvent to see if it will remove it, as it may attack the rest of the cable cover or soften it; either instantly or cause longer term accelerated deterioration/damage.
Compared to the rest of the bike, since it a BD, it looks like a show bikes; so it is starting to look ratty and is why I was wanting to address the problem.
