has anyone ever had a problem with there bike not starting after it has been ridden for a bit? its like once th bike gets hot it wont start untill it gets cold again, i mean cold cold, like hasnt been rode in a couple of hours cold. i tested the battery while running and its pushing all good number? and i left it off the tender today for about three hours after an hour long ride, bike wouldnt start right away so i let it cool off and then it started right up? any input here? my bike dosnt like to be hot i guess...

Weak connections either at the battery or the starter. Or the battery is dead. How old is it?

Hot Starts---No Starts

:flag: As many of us can remember the older (early) Ford ECM`s, or as they were called in those days "brain boxes" :down: would act in a similar fashion when heated up. These ECMs were potted with a heavy polymer to discourage one from repairing the diode which was normally the culprit. I have something close. If the bike is cold or if I stop for gas it starts right up. If it sits for an hour the first press of the start button just gives me a click. The second press starts the bike. It does it every time so I just live with it. Wireplus and 8 month old braille battery without a tender.

When you say doesn't start, does the starter turn but the bike won't fire up, or does the starter not turn at all? That makes all the difference.

it acts like the battery is dead it just clicks loudly but when i test the battery its just fine, and then i walk away (with out putting it on a tender) and come back an hour later after its cooled down and it starts right up. leads me to think that its some how temperature related but i have no clue what it could be thats effected by the heat

Have you checked the starter solenoid contacts? Sounds like they may need a cleaning...

My last battery just died. It was only two months old

Get a slam button from spyke for your starter. Will eliminate the wait. Had the same issue but mine was due to the starter getting oil in it from the primary. Solved that issue and installed the slam button. Fires everytime.

Several years ago I somehow got some water in my starter and the bearings started to rust. Over time the bearings just wouldn't let the starter turn over. Not sayin this is your problem but I might be worth checking out. The starter wire sheathing from the starter to the solenoid has a tendency to wearther and split causing water to get it. Sorry if I missed some information,

What are the CCA's? If they are good both hot and cold, I would rebuild or replace the starter solenoid. Slam button, etc would work also but don't forget that the compression releases need to work (They open for approximately 1 second)!
