Coughing through carburator

Energy One
What's up fellas? I have a question, running down I-20 this afternoon,6th gear 70-75mph,93 degrees, 85% humidity, dewpoint 65-70 degrees, Dog coughs back through carb. several times over about a 6-8 mile stretch. 07 K-9 2800 miles everything is still stock ( exhaust,etc.). This seems worse in hot weather but it happens sometimes in cool weather. Will this still happen once I have new pipes installed and carb has been re-jetted? Or is this weather related? thank's for any info. SL

Yup - lean. Just by changing the pipes would cause you to go up - at least a 31. With cams and other minor tricks I'm running a 33. I think your stock is 29.5

Mine was doing the same , kinda would feel like it was chugging before it would cough, found no intake leak and upped int. Jet one size and no more cough and feels like a little better throttle!!

Sounds like it will clear up after pipes and jetting. Dan O, I know what you mean when you said motor felt like it was chugging before it coughed.Throttle response was sluggish. Sometimes when I hit the throttle when leaving a red light motor will cough then die! SL

I've been seeing quite a few "bent" intake manifolds on pre-assembled S&S engines. It looks like somebody dropped the manifold and made a flat spot on the intake spiggot where it seals against the intake seal. If you have a recurring intake leak, check it out!:2thumbs:
