It was said earlier in the tread. If someone wants the info, it can be found some where.

This survey can be taken as a proactive approach by a company that cares, gathering of information as to bombard their current customers with marketing material or someone looking for a way to keep their job.

Either way, it is needed.

I have yet to see a poll that ask if we bought our bikes new or used. As we tighten our belts as a whole, many will look at these bikes as unneeded payments and there is going to be a larger glut of used low mile high end bikes on the market that can bought for considerably less than new.

BDM needs to figure a way to capture those $'s. If they don't, it won't matter if you agree with what they are doing or how they are doing it. They could very easily end up another casualty in our soon to be depressed economy.

The problem beyond the info is the way its been handled.

This site has been around for a few years now, and they have known about it.

Why didn't Mr Hansen come on here a while ago, introduce himself, and let us know that he's available to aid us loyal customers.

Then and only then after you gain some trust from us, do you start asking us for things.

We do this type of logic to every other clown coming on here trying to ask tech questions or sell stuff.... why not the head chief at BDM?

Maybe I'm just ranting a bit but I highly doubt I'm the only one on this side of the table.

This is not to say that I wouldn't aid in the direction of the upcoming pups. Its just a matter of respect towards us as the membership here before you go asking for favors and pushing around some hired gun survey propaganda.

I think your onto something. With this being the main BDM owners site and the amount of guys that support BDM and love their dogs, why is there no follow-up from Mr. Hansen or anyone from big brother??? I don't think there going to find a larger group of more dedicated BDM owners then here!!

Not that it matters much but, I was happy to fill out the survey.

I just don't think you need my name, address and, vin number. We wouldn't b on this site if we didn't have one.

I decided not to finish filling it out when you wanted my vin number, name and address.

If this is just a marketing survey, please explain why you need that information? I'd be more than willing to tell you which dog and which year I have in my dog house.

I'd have been happy to give you an email address.

Hell, just start searching on this site if you really want marketing information. You'll find more than you can even print. This site is the end all be all site for big dog lovers. Every pain, trial and tribulation can be found in our threads.

We/I love the bikes but, pardon me if I seem skeptical. I'd love to see more factory involvement here. Just do it on the up and up.

I'd hate to see members here start getting warranty work denied because they'd done a carb upgrade.

There's no secret that the factory has been watching. Frank was a big help at the other site before he was laid off.

You're right.

No where will a larger group of BDM supports be found outside the factory walls. We are the first to scream at newbies in telling them to take a breath and call BDM that BDM will take care of them. BDM is a great company, ect...

But like most the time in life...

Its the small details that get overlooked. The mortar of the whole that if left un-done will lead to a catastrophic failure. Much like in my bike build I payed attention to the small details, it makes the overall piece that much more solid in appeal.

BDM... please don't forget the small details. We are a small detail and so is follow thru.

Am I the only one that would like to see a bigger motor, longer & lower bike, stripped down a bit more, a generous allowance for current BDM owners, and a build sheet to order from?
Thats what I'm looking for.

Longer, Fatter, Order Sheet (more options: open primary, springer front end, etc) I'd also like to see the mirrors, grips, pegs, pipes, carbs, seats available as a pre-order option at a discount. This way I'm not left with thousands of dollars worth of stock parts. Also, this would encourage customers to buy new.

I have said the same before Knot!:2thumbs: would be nice to have a few different motor options:whoop: I agree!...plus option for open belt also!:D

Survey Complete.
I would like to see an old school chopper with narrower rear tire, upswept pipes with an option of fish tails or plain, sporty tank, springer forks with an option of having the bike dripping in chrome or blacked out since that seems to be the going trend. (Im very partial to the chrome though).

Paul came to Ray and I about this idea and we fully support it. Paul didn't just jump on the site and make this post, he asked for permission first. I look at it as validation of Big Dog Biker and what all of us have built here.

In my opinion, Paul did the right thing and asked if he could post the survey. And I'm pretty sure if you bought your bike new, they already have your info.

If you don't want to help, so be it. Nuf said.

I'm just saying... permission or not. It would be nice to earn your keep before you start asking for favors.

Got Life?
Interesting....

First post and this guy has everyone jumping through hoops.
Oh well here goes...

This is my second Big Dog and both were purchased brand new.

Personally I would like to see a Big Dog Dealership stay in South Western Ohio for longer than a year. To me this is a major draw back for Big Dog. The closest real dealership (not a service center) is over 200 miles away. Lets face it Big Dog needs to get their products into a large percentage of Harley Davidson stealerships! HD already has the #1 network in place! This is a no brainer in my opinion because many HD dealers already carry other makes & models. HD is the marketing genius.....ride the wave!

BTW While in Daytona I had Big Dog Tampa do some warranty work.
A big thank you goes out to Tonya & Mike!

As far as bikes and ideas go.....
A Mastiff type bagger...I saw one and it was bad azz.
Better quailty aluminum...holds it's shine better.
A longer and leaner bike like the Big Bear Sled.
Bigger Motors & HP...Big Dog needs to be the fastest
custom out there if it is going to be called Big Dog.
Different fender options. Would love some pointed fenders.
I would like the cruise mate as an option
Better control options (mirrors, grips, pegs, etc.)
that don't cost an arm & a leg.
Let's face it most of the control crap is made in China and sold
at a huge mark up...it is good to make a profit but why rape us
after we already bought the bike.

Paul -
K9 w/fuel injection, complete chrome package, springer front end and detachable saddlebags & windshield (for long trips)....that's the ticket for the future (would be for me, anyway!:)) Thanks!

Number one problem with all American (non metric) companies, at least in my opinion. There are no bikes available for much under $30,000. Yes some of the bikes should be expensive but when someone that does not have the kind of money wants to get a bike, and can not afford much, they have a choice.
They can pay $10,000 for a used beat Hog or by a new metric cruiser. Most people are going to opt for a Metric. They are smooth riding, very dependable, about the same motor size, for about half the price. If Big Dog, Harley D, Victory, and Indian (if they ever really make a new bike) want to stay in business they better find a way to grab that market.... I am all for American bikes, wouldn't own anything different but just like the car world you can have a high end sports car but you better have a Pinto to bring in cash when the economy no longer allows you to buy everything with credit.
