I think most LEO's know what novelty helmet and a DOT helmet look like these days.....size and fit are easy to see even from a distance...just my oppinion...

all they gotta do is look on the inside of the helmet. a dot approved helmet has it sewn into the fabric.
i hate the freekin helmet laws too. at 100 deg. here in texas i am NOT wearing a helmet.
i bought one of them decals too a along time ago for my novelty helmet. never did get stopped. lucky i guess.

For me it's fit, weight and comfort ..... I have 2 DOT helmets that provide all the safety ..... but haven't found any that are light and comfortable....
