Compression releases

I was ridin my bike recently and the compression release came apart, they are s&s electric compression releases, the plunger thing came out and the threaded part stayed in , i order a new part and the specialty tool,my question is , is it possible something could have fell in the cylinder, just wonderin before i replace it and theres crap in the cylinder , thank u

Just a thought..... I would grab one of these long (mechanic´s) magnets and run it through each cylinder... CR hole and/or spark-plug hole just to make sure there is no metallic debris in there.

They look pretty nice, is it a common problem for the electric ones to malfunction, have u heard any pros or cons on those manual ones

Brewcrew, I guess the carbon and heat tend to lend themselves to what appears to be a short life of the electric units. I had one of mine replaced a few years ago, but Im still rolling with the OEM unit in the other head. Im thinking of taking mine out and just have a look-see at how bad they are.
A friend of mine pressed down on my C/R's the other day while we were out riding, it fired right up. So Im wondering if maybe they are just carboned up, so to speak.

Thats wierd my buddys was askin me whats up with them before it broke and he pushed it down , i dont know if thay had something to do with it, probably not ,i was was just casually ridin when it happened , i wasnt beatin on it, ive definitely dropped some cash on it this year, new tranny and complete rewire, i love it though, thanks again

I was reading on various sites and the HD forums that they are using Seafoam to clear up the carbon and clean out the rest of the fuel system. Im going to try that before I R&R the C/R's.

Thanks guys , i got the cr's n yesterday, i took the old one out it looked pretty clean, gloria is back up and runnin, thanks again

I had manual releases installed on my chopper because of the cost of replacement and the failure rate of the electric releases. Was a good choice.

On the manual ones do you have to push them down before starting and they automatically come back up?

Thanks Brew. I never had them and still don't. I'd like to put some in for less wear on the starter and battery. Think I'll go manual less headaches.
