Most likely you will have to remove the heads to have this done. I think you will need manual compression releases if the bike was not pre-equiped. Your heads may have a area in the top center that is pre-tapped but being a Pit-Bull you may issues getting your hand in their to operate them. The manual ones are typically installed near the spark plug and the head has to be drilled and tapped for this.:zz2cents:

A couple of generations of spyke releases came out and all were disasters. If you have a good battery (Big Boar) and starter, there is no reason for releases on a 107. Until I got the combination right it was a pain in the ass, but with a battery tender you will be fine. Unless you already have your heads off for rebuilding save the money.

is there a way to put compression releases on my 02 pitbull to make it easier to start?

I had one of my Harley buddies over a today to check out my new Pit Bull. He told me that lever on the Right side, above the air filter was a compression release. I thought it was a choke or something. My manual doesn't say anything about it.
Does anyone know for sure what this is? It's a flat lever that you lift up on to engage. I hate to sound like a dumba$$, but I've had the bike a totall of 26 hours now & am clueless.

Its called an inrichner I know my spelling sucks.

yes post some pics of your 02 XM i have had mine for about a month and LOVE it other than the hard starting problem. but im thinking its a starter issue do to the starter gets VERY hot when starting bike. i have good battery and still have had to have a jump from a car running to get it to crank over i have been told from dealer that i should look into CR's to help start it

Enrichiner opens up a circuit in the carb and it dumps more raw fuel into the intake. unlike a choke that "chokes" off the air supply to richen up the mixture. The enrichner pours in more fuel. The problem is if you use it more than the first few seconds once the motor is running... you will foul out your plugs.

There are compression releases that will screw intop your spark plugs that you can get that will save you the trouble of drilling holes or removing your heads. Theay run about 290.00. I don't know if they work well, I've been thinking about putting them on my 03' chopper, but I have4 a pretty good battery, and a brand new starter so I havn't yet. good luck!

Outlaw, you don't need comp release. Just get a good battery and keep it on a tender and you'll be fine. I have the 107 and never have a problem starting it.

well i ride my bike alot 5 days a week or so when it first happend i put a new battery biggest i could find in it. but it seems to start ok cold its always when its hot. like the other day i had been riding for about hr and stoped to get a BBQ Samich when i cam out i hit the button 2 or three times and it turns over a little then stops then if you touch starter its HOT!!!! and it seems to drain battery in the 2 or 3 hits and olny every now and then i think start must have a bad spot in it and when its hot motor turns over slow have to bump starter a few times to get it to start

But Jim, Gas is right in this case. A choke shuts off air into the carb and our S&S carbs have an "enrichener" that just dumps raw fuel (non-atomized) down the throat of the carb. Two different systems.
Jeeeeezzzzzuuuuusssss, I'm sidin with GasMan!!! :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

so its like on a volvo they dont have chokes and have a cold start injector to spray more gas in when cold to richen the fuel mix
