Again just get a hypodermic needle and syringe from tractor supply and fill with as much wd 40 as you need and just poke the small to medium sized needle through the rubber with the needle. Then your not making a slit or large enough hole for other debris or water to get into!!!

how long has it been since you did that and have there been any adverse effects?
I usually hit them 2 or 3 times a year, and I've been doing it for at least 4-5 yrs, sometimes I can feel the carbon build up because its not smooth, so I work it with WD-40 until its smooth, No side effects because the slit is like the one on the tip of your wiener, and that don't let debris or water in now does it?:oldlaugh:
I suppose you could get water in it if you directly hit it with a garden hose or power washer, but normal driving in the rain is not going to get in thru the slit.
