Compression release trouble?

Guys a little guidance please. I put a new battery in the 05 chop because it was pulling down during starting (like starter stall). Battery a few years old so I figured it was time anyway. Bike is always on the tender and even with the new battery it still pulls down on the first start of the day. So, I'm thinking sticking copression release? When checking them out I turn the key, push the front release down and it moves, push the rear and it does not move. Hit the run button and the starter and I can feel the front release bumping. I get no feeling from the rear release at all. What do you guys think??

Myself,no clue but am interested in seeing some answers,my guess would be it ain't workin but like I said I have NFC,sorry no help, but I can instruct you on opening a beer bottle, and drinkin it of course:cheers:

Great idea, I'll pulll the plugs and see if it does the same thing. Dealer replaced starter not too long ago due to oil leak. As far as the beer goes, you should post the procedure so members don't sustain an injury while opening. I went the safe route with a little Jack from a corked bottle!

Compression test would be the best way. Have heard around 100-110 if releases are working correctly. Worst case both cylinders should be the same. Shouldn't have the starter dragging with a new battery on an 05.

just rest your finger on the rear release (do not push it down manually) and hit start - if it doesn't drop (you can feel it) automatically it isn't working - same with the front
