completely dead, need help

Energy One
Ooops forgot! :loony:

Now disconnect the battery and then the connectors on the EHC and see if there is any moisture or corrosion build up. Reinstall after clean using dielectric grease in the connectors.

Then reconnect battery and retry.

If nothing, THEN EHC HAS GONE SOUTH! :down:

Sorry Brother!

dead :cheers:

Insert title here...
According to the Big Dog website Mancuso's is a dealer so you may want to take your EHC there and ask them to test it...

The worst thing would be to spend the money for a new EHC, stick it in the bike, and then find out that whatever killed it in the first place has now smoked a second one!!!

As for me personally, if my EHC needed replacing I'd rewire the bike to work without it before I spent the kind of money the dealer is asking for them!!!

Thanks, i will take the EHC off the bike and have them test it to confirm it is actually bad.

Thanks again to all of you

No threads on How to test EHCs, nor even much test info at the dealers on testing them. But after all that you've done, the "only" other possible thing it could be, is the key switch. And it's just and on/off switch unit that you can jump together or check with an ohm meter for continuity when the key is on. No real power running through that switch, just low voltage like your handlebar switches.

Good Luck! :2thumbs:

is there a thread on how to test it? will check
Ricks right guys, we need to start a thread on how to test the EHCs! :2thumbs:

Here, I go first.

Here is how I test my EHCs that aren't working:

1) Bitch at it! :argue:

2) Bitch Harder at it! :rant2:

3) No! I mean really hard at it! :cursin::cursin::cursin:

That's better, does it work now? :zzdisappointed::nonod:

Ok then:

4) Bang on it! :smash:

5) HARDER! :smash::smash::smash:

Did that help? :zzdisappointed::nonod:

Ok then, there's only 1 thing left to do to it!

6) :nopity:

7) :flag:

8) SEE YA! :damnit:

9) :toily:

:2thumbs:

:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

FREEDOM!!!
I've had some luck with parts by taking them to the range and putting a .223 FMJ in them. The parts don't look so good after but I feel better!:cheers:

think dead is right again,ehc went south,i lost total power at 90mph on the freway.wire from the ehc to the battery broke,no damage to the ehc though,that really sucks man,hope you get it figured out,:cheers:

I just assumed a dealership would have the EHC tester. Kinda makes you wonder about a dealership that doesn't... :rolleyes:

Dennis
Now Dennis,.....you know that any "assumption" is the mother of all..."F" Ups! :D:lol::lol::lol::lol:

But it would be nice, wouldn't it? :2thumbs:

I don't think that any of the dealerships really have anything to test the EHCs with. They just go through the same processes that we do here, trying to get them working again. An if not, then they're replaced with new and the old ones are sent back to the factory and they "can" test them. :loony:

dead :D :cheers:

if you buy a new ehc, dont go to mancuso, I live 20min from there but would rather get parts shipped from joe harrison in san antonio, the cash you save will be worth a few days waiting on parts.
