Coming out of storage

Whats up people?? It is getting close to spring and the Bigdog hibernation is coming to an end. Are there any known or recently experienced problems out there that happen to these bikes when they come out of storage? What should we Northerners be looking for when the key is turned for the first time?

I just fired mine up on Friday. Battery would barely turn it over, but got it started. Full choke, 3 twists of the throttle. I had fogged the cylinders so it took a little longer to get started. All the lights were on the EHC. I'm fed up with this EHC. Had problems also last year. I'm installing the new PDM next weekend.

The quality of how you store it in the fall decides how easy spring start-ups willbe. There is a lot of information here on advice for storage.

Also if you parked it with the wheels on the ground, and haven't moved it in several months, the tires will have a flat spot where it sat, and might have cracked.
Check them over good.

We pull the sparkplugs and spin the engine over to build oil pressure (we have oil gauges). We used to put a squirt of engine oil in each cylinder before storage but we now use Lucas oil additive to help with dry cylinders after winter storage.

Fully charged battery and CLEAN and tight battery post connections.

Tire pressure, Fluid levels, overall maintenace and safety inspection.
