Cold Starting the 117

Hola Fellow BD Owners!

Here's my question, I wondering about the best way to cold start my 117 that has been sitting this winter. I've had a couple of opportunities earlier in the winter to take the bike out for a spin and could not really get a handle on a good technique. I know the bikes are all different but thought perhaps someone has found a good way to get these big motors up and running without too much wear and tear on the starter. Thanks!

If you shut off the fuel and let it run out of gas. I would turn on the fuel wait a few minutes if carb twist the throttle once. That's all I do. Have a fully charged battery.

First, I put the bike in gear and rock it a few times in order to get the cylinders in the mood to crank. Back to neutral then I hit the start button and when it cranks I raise the enrichener 1/4 to 1/2 way. More or less I will also give it a squirt from the throttle. I lower the enrichener as soon as the engine starts and responds to the throttle. I let it warm up between 1k and 1.5k rpm. When my hand can't stay on the jugs I'm ready to roll but I don't get on it until it's run at least 15 min.
I don't know why but the engine seems to be less affected by the high compression when I use this procedure. When the bike is warm I just hit start and add throttle as needed.

Turn on enricher, twist throttle once, turn key on, hit run, hit start, as soon as it catches and runs for a few seconds turn the enricher off and then let it run for a few more seconds (just making sure it is warm) then roll!
If you're tuned right it should start immediately
