Seems like every time I start the bike when it's cold it back fires but starts just fine. After she warms up, no problems.. Do you think it's running to rich? I've not adjusted anything yet. Thanks for you ideas..

NONE, use the enrichment valve when it's cold. That is what S&S told me. If I do 2 lite
twists mine will spit back.

My 74 cents worth........... Damned inflation

Cold, air is more dense. Cold, the gas sort of goes back to droplets than remains at a mist.

After she warms up, no problems..
The head begins to warm up, expands the air, expands the fuel mix or keeps the mist from turning into droplets, etc.

Not even close.

Don't.

I have never used the enrichment knob to start my bike
X2 Started mine up last week, been sitting for the better part of 4 months. Opened the petcock gave it about 15 seconds for the carb to fill. Normally 3 twists of the throttle but did 4 this time and bike fired up Immediately then went for the first ride of the year. It was stressed to me not to use the enrichment knob when I bought the bike. I never have used it and I have never had a problem with the bike starting.

If you have a carb and don't close the petcock letting the gas empty it could be a blow back of the fuel on the bottom of the bowl.

Thanks all great feedback. Normally 2 to 3 times with throttle before pressing start. However I did note in the thread to wait 15 or more seconds before starting when I move the petcock to on. I think that's where I'm making a mistake. I usually just move the petcock and try to fire it up.

I have the same thing happen when its colder out but I've always used the enricher to start and no throttle twist. Fires right up and then kick the enricher down right away. I'll try just a twist or 2 and leave the enricher alone.
