cold engine hangs, struggles to turn over.

Hey all. Yea, the infamous starter again. I bought the bike new April 2005. The motor hangs when the key is turned or slam button pressed. Both CR's are opening. I sanded and cleaned out the solenoid yesterday, still hangs. Battery is good as you can see in the video. Its always been like this. Ive been told that its sitting on the compression stroke. Ok, wouldnt the CR's resolve that? Both + and - cables are clean and tight at both ends. Even when I hook my v6 suv jumper cables to it, it still hangs. But does power past it quickly. The only battery I never had this issue with was the lithium 420cca unit. Love it, dont trust it. At the end of the video she actually starts.

Any advice is welcome.

What is the possibility of the passages from the compression releases being plugged or otherwise obstructed and not allowing the compression releases to actually do their job?

Good thought. But I would assume that the passages would direct the compression air to inside the rubber CR cover. ‍♂ Anywhere else would allow poo-poo stuff to enter the chamber. Anyone have an idea where the passeges are?

Try this when cold :
No throttle, No enricher until engine is cranking. Before attempting to start the bike put it in gear and rock it back and forth a few times to get the cylinders in the mood to move. Additionally you could push and hold one of the CR's when you hit the start button.

Ill give the throttle/enricher a try, but I dont understand how it would help. But hey, its a learning experience. Thanks again Sheldon Coleman, you flying spunkstain! I remember doing the rocking in gear thing many years ago, didnt help then. Been pushing down CR's for 17 years & 75,000 miles.
Already decided to have manual CR's on the next engine. If I rebuild this one, Ill put the manuals in it and keep the elec's.

I'm pretty sure the compression is routed to the exhaust ports, but you could get with John Sachs and get the facts about how they vent. I'm still thinking that the small passages could be clogged or something.

Hey all. Since the last post I spoke with John Sachs, Dave Welch from Chopper City and an S&S tech. I got a lot of great info and ultimately John & Chubs were correct. I found the little channels, and the front jug seems more like its been welded closed and the back jug was full of crap but I cleaned out what I could. It feels like theres a 90 degree bend in the channel as my pick hits metal. The engine still struggles, but does power past it a wee bit easier than before.
I was told by an HD rider that since I have 87,643 miles, it may be time to replace them. So, what do yall think about the replacement comment? I really dont like the S&S style tops and TPs have never given me a problem in my 18 years. Is there a different upgrade or option available?

Love my Total Performance 107. By far the powerhouse of my bikes.
