Clutch

Al right, clutch diving me nuts. Can't seem to get it right. Adjusted it properly and the damn thing keeps grabbing when in gauged. Got this Bardahl primary oil from Dennis Kirk on close out, wonder if the oil is not slick enough. Don't really think the oil is the problem though. Thoughts?

When you say grabbing when engaged; do you mean that it wants to walk on you while in gear and you have the clutch lever squeezed?
If so, I would say try adjusting again until you get the feel for it....its a fine line to get it just right.
Stock clutch? Miles? Adjust procedure used etc may help you with a better answer though. I've not heard of oil type causing this personally, but you didn't mention viscosity/application the oil is made for either.

Yeh, bike is walking when lever is pulled. Adjusted four or so times, I also have 11,500 miles on the bike stock clutch. I work on bikes and adjusted many clutches never had this problem. Looks like I may have to pull the primary cover if my last adjustment fails. If my basket is broken, then definitely bad design. Has anyone tried for refund from Baker or BDM?

there was a recall on the old style basket. check with your stealer. it has since been re-designed.

So your saying that BDM will cover the cost of a new basket if I have the old style? Is the old style basket the only problem child, or do the new ones have the same problem?

was only saying that some of the old style MAY have made their way into some of the '06s and that it may be worth looking into. is just something worth checking.

Took my primary cover off today and found the clutch hub nut to be loose. Red Locktite and impact should do the trick. Guess BDM doesn't believe in Locktite. This maybe the cause of the basket breakage, nut loosens up clutch basket walks back and forth, fatigue sets in breaks the basket. Just sayin.

Mine did it for the first 12000 miles and no less than six attempts by two different shops to fix it. Then another attempts buy me. There is only one fix for the problem. The stock clutch sucks BUY A BANDIT. The install is fairly straight forward and the customer service for questions is outstanding. Best money I have spent on my dog.

Clutch seems to operate great, no slipping, easy to adjust, if the problem is just the nut I feel I can fix that one way or another. I can't see spending money on a clutch if the only thing wrong with the stock is the nut backing off.

Ok guys clutch was acting up in the 06 K9 I just bought. Pulled it apart and the basket is broke just like the ones I see on here. I am trying to find a place to order the Bandit clutch. All Bandit kits I see do not come with the basket. So do I buy another stock basket then install the bandit clutch? Or does anyone know where I can buy the whole kit?

I just e-mailed Bandit, this is what they said:
"The clutch is $330.00. If you want the billet bearing carrier also, that is $136.00 with the bearing installed"
