Clutch Rod Cover Removal

WELL...just tried squirting Liquid Wrench in crack, let sit, hair dryer, wood dowel with rubber on end, and just dowel alone. Still not loose, chipped chrome off corner. Already ordered a new one from Atlanta-I refuse to buy from local dealer after this. Now tell me how to get this mother off-I'm replacing it once off.

I had this problem when putting on my Karata belt. I put a towel on one of the edges and used a racket extendion and a rubber hammer to get it off. Worked like a charm and didn't damage it at all.

Now that it's fucked just drill a hole straight down into the top edge and tap in a dowell pin or screwdriver.

This is a little late for Ratman but I picked up a door stop with a rubber tip like the one below and removed the wall screw......becomes a rubber tipped center punch that fits right into the ridges....a few shots with a rubber mallet worked like a champ.

I have already used two rubber mallets. One held against one of the knurls on the cover and swing away with the other against the stationary mallet. It will come off and cause no damage.

rubber and wood gives, use brass bar with tape around end and good size hammer it will come off. it the same reason a impact socket works better then a regular one does not give as much.

They should have been machined with six flat sides so you could use a wrench or socket to remove them.

I use a pair of rubber handle channel locks or pliers and a regular hammer. Put one of the ends of your pliers on one of the notches and hit the top of the pliers. I have had to do this several times never damaged the Crome. The rubber on the pliers should be the good silicone type. You need solid force to get it off.
