Clutch push rod not aligning

Finishing the chain drive conversion. Put the 24 front tooth pbi sprocket on and can't get the long actuator rod which runs through the middle of main shaft to go all the way in. Sometimes it takes some moving around but something on the clutch side must have shifted.the rod, attached to pulley cover will slide all the way in except the last 1/4 " to seat. Anyone ever had this happen?

Could be that the rod is not seating on the center of the throwout bearing. Just a thought not really sure.

thanks guys. found that when the pulley cover was off, the cable slipped through the eyelet where the bearing actuator is under the cover. realigned clutch actuator and those 3 bearings in there and slipped right in. thnx!
