Clutch problems

Needing some help pretty bad !! Ok so I started to have problems while riding my bike , when I would go to accelerate the bike would just rev up and speed wouldn’t change . Was told more than likely clutch adjustment . So I adjusted on the cable still same thing , was told loosen cable and take off the open primary cover and tighten adjustment bolt until it lightly seats and back off half a turn . Did it readjusted cable and took out for a ride . Still same thing . So now I loosened everything pulled off the hub cover and inspected clutch disc . They are completely wore , so I ordered the new disc and plates . Installed everything per instructions from barnett clutch . I put the hub cover back on the clutch and tighten springs to 5lbs as instructions said . But the springs are fully compressed all the way in now and as before they weren’t . Adjusted clutch cable stuck it in gear and it doesn’t move . What could I be doing wrong? Should the springs be replaced as well? Or could I get by using the old springs . I did order new springs but they are not correct .

Test with old springs. This time, lightly seat, turn out the screw a 1/4 to less than 1/2 a turn out. Pull the pack out and check plate position. On the steels, they are stamped out, so you'll feel a more sharper side edge than the round sided edge. Face all steel cuts towards you, round side into engine. Same goes with the frictions. If they have an ink stamping, then all ink faces you, blank makings toward engine. In other words, only one direction when they collapse on each other is 'memory' you are not about to fight.

Theory: Place hands together like praying to the friction gods. See how the fingers fight against each other? Lay one hand over the other and now bend all fingers in that one direction. See how they collapse if not all laid in the one direction?

Finally got it figured out after several times of taking it apart and back together come to find out a couple of the plates weren’t in the teeth when trying to put the hub back on . Test drove it and ran like a striped ape with a rocket In it’s ass . It’s been so long I forgot how much power they had ! Sure as hell beats having to take short rides and slow speeds .
