clutch lever rattle

I get a lot of rattling from my clutch lever when I ride with my left hand off the grip. Once I put my hand on it stops because it knocks off the vibration. Anyone else get this and if so is there a remedy. It started two years ago but getting worse. My clutch is dialed in so that's not an issue. I appreciate any feedback. Starting to annoy me now.

Pull the lever out and adjust the nylon anti-vibration screw on it. You shouldn't have to remove the cable.

Thanks for the feedback. I did what you said and it's fine know. I can't believe that after three years of messing around with this thing and doing all the work myself I didn't know this.

Appreciate the verbal explanation but it was still confusing to me; what to get at and adjust...

Think this photo will help of my 2004 clutch lever. I fully loosened the clutch cable adjuster to get the full "one inch plus" of cable slack to allow me to pull out the clutch lever far enough to: remove, clean and inspect the "white nylon/plastic slider pad" held in place by the one allen head screw.

I adjusted/turned it slightly like a cam clockwise to get it to take up: "the up & down play" and stop the lever rattle -- it worked!

It may be hard to tell -- but 1/32" move goes a long way here!

As it wears more, I may have to shave/reshape it more like a cam lobe to get it to take up more rattle slack...



and thanks to my mechanic "Ram one" below for giving me a hand...

OK Fat, you unconfused me about the clutch lever. But, or is that butt, your mechanic has me confused. Very confused!

Does your mechanic fix anything else?

Hi guys, some info on the same topic. We recently purchased all of the inventory from Niagra Precision in New York. They made hand controls for BDM for years. We now have all the rebuild parts and replacement bodies for 04-10 BDM hand controls. I'll get some kits together in the coming weeks.

If you adjusted that big square plastic and it worked for you that is good, However, what you need to adjust is what Raywood said the nylon anti-vibration screw

Attached are some pictures to show you or those that don't know where the nylon anti-vibration screw is located.

Here is the lever with the large and small hole, the nylon anti-vibration screw goes on the small hole (that what she said)



The next picture show the nylon anti-vibration screw.



The next one shows the nylon anti-vibration screw installed. You have to make sure it does not drag and if it does it's to tight. Put a little assembly grease or lube on the nylon ball so it doesn't wear out (she would like that ):lol: Also use a little blue Loctite on the screw so it keeps the adjustment.

"Little-Boo" is Right! :flag:

My other adjusting screw per "Little-Boo's" photos was metal and appeared to scrap the aluminum on the underside-top casing -- so I decided not to use it to take up slack...
I rotated the nylon/plastic block instead. Both ways will work!

Perhaps mine was assembled with the wrong metal screw?, that should have been nylon/plastic from the factory...

PS: My lever is 2004, think Raywood's is 2005, what year is Liitle-Boo's?
Cause my clutch lever is slightly different than Little-Boo's (brake lever?)

...after studying the photo; is it supposed to be a metal screw with a nylon/plastic tip and not an all nylon/plastic screw?

Perhaps the same thing that happened to me happened to you. The little nylon or plastic ball broke or fell off on mine and when I tried to adjust I found out that metal on metal did not work worth a crap. I looked at the other side and notice it has a spring loaded white ball on the tip. I ordered me a hand full of them nylon anti-vibration screw and installed it and solved my problem. :2thumbs: BTW mine is a 2006 Mastiff.
