Clutch Lever help or thoughts...

So, from one moment to the next my clutch lever is vibrating up and down and is loose and about 1/4" off from flush. I AM going to check my clutch hub nut first, however, looking at the lever, it moves freely up and down and when I look in it, i can see the threads on the mirror screw??

You can also see in the photos (maybe you can see, hard to take pics that close) that the lever is about 1/4" off from flush....It looks like spacers are missing or something just broke and fell out. Attached pics if someone could blow them up please....could someone look at the inside of their clutch lever and tell me that this is normal? Does yours look like this?

It almost looks like I'm missing a spacer or something inside? Never looked in there before it happened (of course).....like I said, I can see the threads of the mirror screw and this just happened from one day to the next...shifting is fine etc...but am going to check clutch hub nut just to be safe....

Are the spaces on top and bottom of the lever normal? seeing the threads of the screw normal? the brake lever is flush and tight, completely different than the clutch lever and I have nothing to compare it to....

So, the 'play' I have in my clutch lever, is from around the mirror screw? the cable WOULD be tight if there weren't any 'play' around the screw? Could a spacer have broken? I see some tiny metal shavings inside the lever housing...so basically it's like the 'hole' the mirror screw goes through for the lever is way to big now.....hope that makes sense...

There is a spacer that should be in there. It should fit down I'm the hole where your mirror mounts in if I remember correctly.

No, not on top & bottom... it goes IN the lever hole.

.... you need that cylinder type spacer in there.

Thanks guys. Anyone have the dimensions of the spacer? So I can go grab one locally? Modify it?

I see the larger spacer (23A)...then there's the smaller one (33) that goes inside of the larger one, which is the one I'm missing right? Attached pic of manual.....

Does the handle have to come out, or will the spacer just slide in the bottom?

Just seems odd that it would just disintegrate or disappear......

But where did it go? I pulled other side off too, it's raining today....and it looks like really soft metal used for that spacer....but I cleaned out my clutch side, and found all kinds of shavings.....WOW......Does that spacer really disintegrate like that???

I don´t know.... but I tell you what, it did happen to me too!!! I did notice it when I changed the mirrors!!!

I was lucky to have spare ones from when I bought spare hand controls from a Forum member.

I'm going to wander on down to the hardware store....I'll PM Derek and Donna...if I find the right size and length, I'll post it here for others....I may even get a hard plastic one for the time being until I can get the right one from them.....just so it doesn't drive me nuts driving down the road....

Going to order a couple from Donna and Derek, BUT FOR NOW....I found that if you take the shaft of a multi screw driver, use the 5/16" shaft side of the 5/16" and 1/4" nut drivers on said shaft, take a mini pipe cutter, cut it to size...put it back in and, VOILA, clutch lever is working fine.....temporarily.....:2thumbs:

I'm laughing too because I literally spent an hour in the hardware store looking for something in the bolt section, plumbing section and hobby section and nothing was the right size...come home, look at my screwdriver, and I'm like hmmmmm.....hilarious.....

I had the same issue. I was able to find a bushing that was close, then drilled and sized it to fit.

I looked for something close in two different hardware stores...no luck....my thought was to find something close, then drill it out or mod it to make it work....in the end, my screwdriver shaft worked out fine....
