Hey guys, Having some issues with my 08 pitbull with 1,000 miles on it. I changed the primary oil @ 500 miles with redline primary fluid with shockproof and adjusterd the clutch as outlined in the how to forum. nuetral is a breeze, all gears are perfect. since this past weekend when 3rd gear started slipping, I tried to adjust the clutch again and found that I was able to turn the rod 2 full turns after I adjusted it to 1/4 turn 500 miles ago. any ideas?
Thanks Bob

What do you mean... 2 full turns after I adjusted it?

So you turn the clutch rod till it touches and back a 1/4. Lock it in with the lock nut, but then can turn it back in 2 turns after????

Have you checked the tranny nut?

And you put shockproof in the primary? or in the tranny?

I think he means that 500 miles ago it was a quarter turn but now it will turn in 2 full turns as though it has backed out over the 500 miles - something certainly seems to have moved in between

Ouch!!! Good point there Gas - where did the shockproof go? Either way that is not going to solve the slack in the clutch rod mystry. and as Gas mentioned very much leads to a possibl loose tranny nut.

Bob, do you remove your exhaust when you adjust the clutch? Reason I'm asking you do need to get a GOOD grip on that 11/16 nut (I think that's what the size is, can't remember....getting old) when locking the push rod in place. If NOT locked in place tightly it could also lend to readkusting the clutch. I have found the best and only way to do it in my case is to remove the pipes for a certain adjustment. And yes I do replace the exhaust gaskets every time.
Good luck let us know

Gas, sorry for not being clear, lee is correct. I made a mistake on the post. redline shockproof in the tranny and redline primary oil (in the primary).
I have not checked the tranny nut.

Staffy, I was able to cut an allen wrench and there was no need to remove the exhaust. the nut was tight when i went to adjust it for the 2nd time.

sounds like the clutch hub nut. Take the outer primary off and have a look.
