When putting my bike back together the other day it was the same way.
Cold, sticky clutch packs, on a lift. clutch pulled felt the same as it was in gear.
But adjusted, and first timei put it in gear it jumpped forward about 2-3 feet. and then its been fine. just needed to get some fluid in the packs, and worked normal.
