Clutch Hub Nut Stuck

Energy One

Trying to emove the clutch and the hub nut won't budge. I have a decent impact gun, but it won't move. Any suggestions? Can I heat it with a heat gun.

All I can assume is that it has a ton of red locktite from the factory to address the prior issues with it loosening. Any ideas, let me know.

Yes - I know its reverse thread.

Heat it up with a torch I do it all the time. If the hub itself won't come off use a plate style puller.

Ok - I heated it up and was able to pull it. I now have a leak of tranny fluid from the shaft area. What did I do? Aggghh.

Also, I putting the clutch back together to send for a new EFM auto clutch. I should have paid attention, but where does the thin ring go? I know, I didn't need to pull it apart. First time opening a clutch.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

the thin rubber ring??? throw it away
I am guessing I need a new one, although it does say in the manual that leaking is normal when the hub nut is removed. I hope it goes away when I reinstall the clutch basket. Anyways, Thanks for the help all. The basket is off tomorrow for Garry to do his magic. I hope I like the EFM autoclutch.

BTW i figured out how the clutch goes back together. I guess I should have consulted the manual from the outset. LOL

There was a service bulletin stating to take that thin brown o-ring off. If you have it, throw it away as outdoorsman mentioned. You don’t need to replace it…

It should if you put it back together as you took it apart. That little seal has nothing to do with sealing the shaft. The sealing is done by your Trans main seal and the shaft spacer. You should be good to go if your main seal is ok...

I would install a new seal they are cheap and pretty easy to install, as for fliud level if you install to much it will leak out. If not sure maybe good time to service trans. I too am getting a EFM auto clutch sent mine in friday, I have open primiary pretty easy to remove and install clutch. just thought this tread needed a picture

Thanks for the input guys. I am hoping it will seal back up when I reinstall the clutch. The shaft is very solid so I could have overfilled a bit when I changed the tranny fluid this winter. I will give a review on the auto clutch when its in.

Bruce,

Let me know how your's goes. Good luck
