Clutch Cable!!!!!!!!!!!

OK I am about at my whits end here!:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

I have been working on my own stuff forever and take pride in being able to fix just about anything! I can't count on 2 hands how many times I have changed a clutch cable but no matter what I do I CANNOT get this one set right!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

It can only be one thing and one thing only and that is the cable is TOO SMALL! It calls for a 68" and they sent me a 66". Everyone says that this should not be a problem but I disagree!!!:argue:

If I take all slack out and give the ball and ramp assembly full range of motion then button everything back up and then finger tight it up until I get the slightest of resistance then back it out 1/4 to a 1/2 turn. I even went so far as to have Choppergirl turn the rod back out while I held it in gear until it starter to pull then turned it back in ever so slightly until it stopped then I tightened it down. :2thumbs:

But then I go to take the slack out of the lever and before it is even close to the right tension the ball and ramp assembly slams shut and then no back and forth motion what so ever!:angry:

If I had that 2-3 inches more of slack to play with I think it would then adjust correctly!

Please someone prove me wrong or tell me I am right and not going freakin nuts here! :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I should have gotten it from Curtis from the get go!!! Instead I got it local and paid the price!

If it is the cable itself, the internal length might be the problem, not the overall length. To eliminate the possibility of it being the cable, buy one from Curtis and take the other back or sell it on Ebay.
I'm just a phone call away if you need further assistance with adjustment.

Thanks Andrew and Curtis for all your help. Wish I could afford to get one from Curtis as well. Going to have to either take this one back or wait a bit. Moneys tight but I will get it done when I can.

Can't believe I have fought this thing for so long now just hope that is where the slippage is comming from. But I do know there is not enough adjustment on that cable so hoping this will solve it. Shout out to Bobby Shulz who has been listening to me whine about this and reassuring me I have been doing the right thing.

Is the cable properly seated in the hand control. It is easy to have it hang up and it will give the illusion of having a short inner cable. It will then pop into place when riding and then you have no clutch again. I have inadvertently done this two times myself.

My clutch cable is to short also. I can't make a hard right turn, it just makes the clutch slip.
