clutch cable too loose???

Hey guys, I accidentally pulled my push rod with out loosening my down cable. I pulled and fixed my starter, started it in neutral with clutch rod not installed to check. Installed cover, rod, backed off 1/4 turn, then realized I didn't loosen down cable. Now I have about an inch more cable than I need. Have pulled the cover off the ball bearing housing and all is in place. Cant imagine stretching the cable an inch. Have read thread after thread on here and can't find anything.Any help will be so muCH appreciated. I miss my dog.:(

Just start from square one and do it the right way and see what happens. Bet that fixes it.

Ok. Try this. Turn the adjustment ALL the way in. Bottom it out but dont be forceful. Then back it out ALL the way. Then adjust normally. Dont start it till you get it adjusted.

I checked the ball and ramp. When I am going back in, the ball and ramp lever is all the way aft and flat. I pulled the clutch handle and watched the handle go forward and up. Makes mechanical since to me. Is this right?

Sounds like the ball n ramp are functioning properly. Have you checked the throwout bearing? Baker came out with a heavier better bearing as a replacement. Clutch cable will go slack when they go out. Just my thoughts.

Ah..it wont seat properly. I was riding when mine blew out, left me with no clutch, just a loose floppy handle and slack cable.

Sometime you can loose one of the three balls or one will get out of place and cause these symptons. I would pull the cover and open up the ball and ramp assembly and check there again first.
