Still using the original cable with 21,000 miles on the scoot. I have a spare in the tool box just in case...:D

Bought my bike last March with 16k I believe it is the stock cable. I did have my throw out bearing crumble in August. Pulled clutch in coming to a light, the lever went limp and I ditched around a car and came to a stall/stop. I adjusted the cable all the way out to get home. Then I searched the BDB threads and it seemed it would be my clutch nut came loose. I opened the primary but the nut was tight. I opened the trans and found the pieces of throw out bearing. Cheap and easy to fix. Guess I should have changed my cable while I was in there.

06' RB snapped cable at the eyelet. Barnett said 1 in 50,000 break at the eyelet. They replaced for free. I purchased another one on ebay for a back up.

Yes I have broke a clutch cable.

Due to the fact I live on an Island we spend alot of time in traffic. I hope the excess clutch use is the reason I only got 4000 miles out of the 1st cable.

Short Clutch Cable Life

Hi all. I had my cable let go at 6,500 mi. It broke at the tranny-side by the throwout bearing. The ferrule just popped off. As it turned out the dealer I was using, at the time, didn`t have the one to fit Big Dog but he did have the same length to fit an American Ironhorse. That was 18,500 mi. ago and still going strong. I do lube the cables, clutch rod, clutch lever, and throw-out bearing religiously. I like lubrication for it beats the hell out of having a failure which could have been avoided. Just my opinion.

Always leave in gear at stoplights in case I need to move out of the way in a hurry. Original cable still.

Mine broke about a month ago at the grip lever. The new one just broke today. Damn adjuster threads snapped in half. Sometimes I leave it in gear at a stop, sometimes I don't.

Mine broke Sat. 8-24-13 at the trans end, it had been serviced many time's but finally gave out. I was stopped with the engine off and just getting ready to start when it let go at 20,000 miles. I was 125 miles from home and had made a trip to Extreme Custom Cycles in Pleasant Gap Pa. near State College to check out his store.Thay are a Bourget Dealer. I spoke to the owner and he had one in stock. He let me use his shop and tools at no cost so I could replace my cable and be on my way. Many Thanks to them for saving my trip. The rest of the day the Dog ran super.:2thumbs:
