clutch basket spline

Hey guys ... need your help. Putting my 2004 Ridgeback back together after new paint. Has anyone used red Loctite on the clutch basket to trans shaft splines. I know BDL requires it but I think the clutch setup on this is Primo. I am not sure if Primo requires it. What is everyone doing?

knothead ... thanks so much. That was my consensus. Sounds like Primo uses a harder material for the spline area than does BDL and Ultima who requires the red Loctite on splines to fill gaps.

I havent never put loctite on the splines and im running two of mine with ultima transmission...im not saying they dont say that but i have never done it

Great ... My understanding is that the red Loctite is used to protect the splines of the BDL and Ultima clutch baskets because the clutch basket spline material is softer that than that of the transmission spline. That being the case, the hardened Loctite makes the fit of transmission to basket very solid so the trans shaft cannot eat into the basket spline. They say the Primo clutch basket splines are made of better material so as to not need Loctite.
